I am sorry to say that my original statement of purpose will have to be changed. I have been working on this project and have kind of hit a wall. If I had lots of time to do it, then no problem. Information though is time critical and if I wait for all the parts to show up when they will, it would no longer be interesting or useful except as a historical or reference article. While those things are useful endeavors, just look at the Ronny's corner thread. It is large and contains tons of very useful information. I have posted a link to the thread or copied a reply from it to others new threads asking the same question. I have read it several times since I originally read it as it was written.

Here is the problem. If I go from a ground up build of an ST with PitBull(tm) chassis, I have to buy hundreds of parts. I can look them up from the manual and exploded diagrams. I have pages of them listed by ST only, used by both, assemblies and Kyosho packages. What I can't do is buy them all in a timely manner. I can get prices for online posted parts bags from Kyosho vendors (PanicToyz, Stellamodel, Dinball, RCboyz et al) for only half of the parts needed.

I had actually planned to tear down the assemblies that I have now to illustrate the parts and build up. That makes less and less sense to me now as I can't buy the individual parts so simulating buy the parts is an exorcise for its own sake. One of the points of documenting this build (though it slows down my progress significantly) was to examine the issues of price and availability of this kind of build instead of buying an ST and upgrading or buying a H8 and upgrading.

It is not really practical at this time to do a build from parts bags and upgrades with little duplication of parts.
I conclude the only practical way to do a PitBull(tm) build or any other chassis (Eclipse CF comes to mind) build with out a donor RTR for all the tiny and obsure pieces.

I will document my build with the PitBull but from the changed point of view that I have a H8 that I am taking apart to build the ST/PitBull(tm) killer race truck.

I don't feel sorry or that I have failed anything because I have put lots of earnest effort into making the original premise work. I have found that it is not feasible and that was one of the reasons to explore this process.

    On ward and up ward.

    Very logical.
I did the same thing more or less waiting for Bit right now.

    Hey Bit it's all good

I just got a Mlst and raced it this weekend.
We have a spec class for them and its the best racing I have had for a while great truck. Fun to see 6 or 7 racing together

My first Losi product but I have done all the things you need to and its way fun!

The PB will be for Mod class , with a wing it will be my Truggy.

Ya, I figured that would be the case Hawk, thanks for at least getting as far as you did.

I ended up selling my h8 (still unsure if it was the right thing to do) and picked up an 18t for bashing.

I am positive I will get an h8 st when I can afford a new charger and all that good stuff!

I just don't have the cash to drop to make the ST into the tank I need it the way I bash

I know the H8s are great builds, but seem to be more in line for racing and there are no local tracks (at least, not within 1 1/2 hour drive) and no way my wife would allow that w/ a newborn! lol.

Gallery has new picts. of PitBull(r) and the equipment.
Tekin Mini-Rage, Hyperion 5000Kv YC-22s, Jr Racing XS3-Pro radio, United RC X71 Battery pack. I have a STiffy in there on which electronics are mounted. I used the stock ctr diff mount so I could put at connector to the STiffy amidship and tie it all together. It is like a rock now, no twist, no bend, no vibrations.

I have to cut the beautiful inner body to allow the electronics peek through. I also have to cut the backend out of the truck so the wing will still fit. I hate to do it but I like the truggy look.

I move the steering to the outside and used a custom linkage. I hope to get the ant. wire mounted in a vertical position soon and charge the batt., setup up the esc and see how fast it will go around the corners of the figure eight in front of the house.

This is WinSTon's new best friend. I don't have a name for him yet but I think it will be Nelson, Ha Ha.

anyway, working on the battery hold downs. I am using plastic U shaped pieces that are for routing wiring. I put 2mm flush screws through the bottom for the inside. On the outside, I used the conveinient rail that CAW provided for the strap. Details to follow.

I want to run this so bad but building two trucks and racing 1/8 buggy is time consuming not to mention all the other irons in all the fires. Progress is slow and jerky at times. But, it will be raced, I promise. I can't wait to see the looks on those guys faces at the Antioch track with the new BL aluminum chassis killer truck.

I hope to have pics of that next weekend.
