Here's a picture of my Mamba 6800 installed in the H8, loaded it down with LRP heatsinks and it doesn't get too hot at all. Very impressed wth this car so far :D ! I haven't got to run it much with the weather like it is down here in Southeast Louisiana, but it's given me the time to work on the car. I've got:

Atomic Center Diff
3Racing Steering setup
SATO hubs, knuckles, F&R susp. braces, shock towers
Mamba 6800 & Mamba 25
HS-81MG
Kyosho shocks

Hey,
Which ESC components did you put the heatsinks onto? The transistors?

Nah, I just stuck them on top of the ESC. There isn't a place around to get any new heatshrink if I open up the shrink on the ESC, so I just CA'd them to the top of the plastic. Works well, better than I expected anyway. The sinks I put on the motor are night and day better than just the motor alone, as it was getting pretty hot without any sinks, but as soon as I put the heatsinks on, I can hold my finger on the motor after a 10 minute run and count off a good 10 seconds. So it's doing the job.

That's interesting, didn't think CA would be good...

If found an interesting article about making your own thermal conductive epoxy. You can either buy the ones made for computers by Arctic Silver (Thermal Adhestive) for $15US or do this:

1. Purchase some kind of computer thermal compound
2. Use regular clear epoxy
3. Mix them like this: 1 part of epoxy, 1 part of thermal compound

Voila, you've got thermal conductive epoxy.

Yeah, a lot of people do that for Nitro motors between the head and the block ;)... Good find!

worse case, you could always get one of the 10mm X 10mm fans and sit that directly on the speedo and/or motor...

I know that's why we do for 10th touring cars - point a fan directly on the brushhoods, the motors come off much cooler :D

I used to run a fan on my 1/10th electric but I found that it slowed down the car.

Use a seperate receiver battery for the fan?

...i put a tiny litle sink on the MAMBA esc that i got with a GS esc....works great...HIGHLY recommended...That sink on the motor is freakin' huge!! lol...

Do you guys cut the plastic off where you but the heatsink on the esc? Or do you just glue it on?

it is better to cut the heatshrink off arround the heatsink. it will disapate more heat that way. but it will also work directley to the hearshrink just now as good.

So cut a small square where the heatsink will go then glue it? I also have another idea....Cut off all the stock shink and get a massive thick peice from a hardware stock. Put the heatsink on then the shrink. Then cut the shrink where the heatsink is.

Mine is just glued to the top of the ESC, over the plastic. I don't have any heat shrink and the hardware stores around here are open weird hours still and most don't have what I am looking for anyway. Bit, those sinks need to be huge because the motor's so small ;), lol. They do the job though. Fried my battery over the weekend, but it was just a bunch of old cells I'd thrown together to see how the H8 would run, so it was only a matter of time before one went kaput.

I found those small heatsinks made for memory chips are a perfect fit for the mamba esc. I use two of them on each mamba and it seems to work pretty good :D

Not sure. I connected it to my receiver as well.
