Hello,

I just got my 3 Racing shocks this weekend. I must say I wish I had got the Kyosho ones. The 3Racing shock were all wrong. I installed the two hole piston and filled them with 20 weight. When I took the shocks apart I found scratches on all four shafts, some pretty big. I sanded and polished the shafts and put everthing back together, but I bet the scratches ruined the o-rings. I always prefer to build shocks myself, but I never thought it would be this bad. O-well, you get what you pay for I guess.

Sorry about your shocks. But i have 3racing shocks and have not had that problem. i have had them about 4 months and have been very happy with them.

where did the scratches come from? the pistons? my 3racing shocks seem to be leaking from the top :( i have the top screwed on as tight as i can. has anyone had good luck with the gpm shocks?

look in ronneys corner to get a shock mod, it makes them 10 times better. but kyosho still wins. oh driftology, i would put some teflon tape on the threads.

I assume the scratches come from initial assembly. It looks like someone used regular pliers to hold the shaft while they screwed on the end. I always use soft jaw pliers for that reason. The shocks do work much better with the two hole pistons and lighter fluid.

3racing is a good company, with excelent products, but the assembly kills them, their workers are careless sometimes.

I got some 3r shocks today ..... they suck ass ... do they all need a fluid put in them or is it already in there ? I dont wanna take it apart unless I need to. Whats the best fluid you guys use if I need to put some in ... And is lighter fluid really a good idea ?

...lighter fluid? Meaning that you want to burn them? I dont get it...

...Yep the 3RACING shox dont have the greatest reviews...They are known for leaking for sure but thats the first i have heard of scratches...Go KYOSHO for TECHNICAL stuff...Go 3RACING for alloy / carbon stuff...

Please do not put lighter fluid in your shocks unless you take video of it flaming down the track and post it here.

I am sure that they meant use a lighter weight shock fluid. The silicone fluid used in the shocks (and diffs) are in weights (hence the terms light and heavy). Associated silicone shock fluid is in weights from 10 to 90 and most of the fives in between (35, 45 etc.). So, use a lighter fluid means to use fluid that is a lower number weight designation than you currently use. Go from 40 to 30.
So shock fluid is in weights that are or aproximate CPS weights that are in in three for four digits like 350. Still the lower number is considered the lighter fluid. Not namtha.

LOL!!! I cannot stop laughing. That was pretty funny. Anyways, 3R are ok at best. I just decided to drop the cash and get some Kyosho's. I have only heard great things about them so I think they will be awesome.

My 3racing shocks came filled with fluid...I dumped the stock oil out and refilled them, but didn't have any problems...

The thing I noticed is the bladder look crappy...so I swapped out the stock bladder for some Tamiya shock bladders...As soon as I remember, I'll change over to some GS Touring car-sized shock bladders....should make them much smoother :D

Well Im totally new to most of this. So I might check into new bladders because another guy over at www.rcccs.com said the same thing to me. He said with some slight mods they really are great shocks. But outa the box I think they suck. I had other rc cars before (hpi) and the shocks they make I liked alot.
