I am a new member !! But I have been chacking the this websit for some thime new.

I need some help from, and I believe you guys can hlep me up!! :D

I have Mamba's Brushless Competition X in my Half-Eight. I didn't know to lower the pinon to 11T or lower at first, so my motor and ESC heat up good. But I stoped driving it after only few run beacuse I think it is not good idea to keep driving it. Then I found out I need to lower down the pinon, so I did put 9T pinon in. After that, it does solve the heat problem on motor, but the ESC still hot like 130F. And the shrink wrapping start split beacuse the heat :( .
So is any one can hlep me up here !!!

I use 8cell hp1100mAh NiMH,9T pinon, old JR XR3 Fm Radio, XXL reciver, Hitec HS-81MG, and Novak cooling fan 25X25x10. Rest of will be stock, but I do reduce my froward to 60% on my radio beacuse I can not drive with 100% on stock shocks :p .

One more qustion!! Is any one know the differnce between GPM and 3Racing's shocks beacuse I cannot order the 3Racing yet on my towm.So I order the GPM's shock first !! :p

Think you for reading !!!

The comp x motor is likely your problem, not gearing or the esc. That motor has little tourque but high rpm. If you gear it down, the motor won't have to work as hard but you are still pulling a large amount of amperage by running the motor at high RPM all the time. I would suggest either the 5400, 6800 or get the 4900 AON motor. The only other thing you could try is setting your timing to zero on the esc.

This can cause the controller heat up as well, the fets are not as efficient at partial throttle as they are at full, so if you spend a lot of time with the throttle full, and the controller fets are only on a 60% duty cycle because of the endpoint setting on your transmitter this will cause extra heat up in the controller.

If your TX has an exponential setting for the throttle channel, then try taming the beast down using that setting instead of the endpoint adjustment.

Another possible solution is if you can obtain the mamba link programing software and cable you can tame down the throttle curve internal to the mamba controller.

If you are not spending much time at full throttle (with the 60% setting) then my advice is pretty much useless, and I would strongly suggest contacting Castle Creations directly.

Good luck man.

Think you for you guys suggestion and help !! I will try them !!

To MOOsE!!
Do you think "Golden Horizons Air Power 3600 RPM Brushless Motor" will work and solve the problem too??

From Tower Hoppy: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJAB3&P=7

Beacuse few of my friends have this motor in their Mini Quake with no problem!!

If I use AON4900 or GH 3600 motor, What tooth of pinon I should use ??

...Think the Aon is better for the Mini Inferno than that GH3600, pinion, I think 12-14t? with a Mamba, pinion >11t

I see!!
I will try to get my hand on one of AON4900 :D

I think doesn't necessarily mean that it is, just that I've heard none but good things about the Aon 4900, but i haven't heard anyone use that Golden Horizons motor in the Mini Inferno yet. :)

I would use the AON 4900 as well. Thats what I ordered for mine. However, they do offer a bigger 5800 motor that I will probably get too.

As informed by AON Customer Service last night, the Killer 5800 (USD79) may not fit into H8 due to its large diameter size. More over, the shaft size of Killer 5800 is also bigger than Thrust 4900, 3.2mm vs 2.0mm.

Can anyone find out the diameter size of X-Speed motor? But I am not entirely sure he was correct, because the 5800 is around 28mm in diameter which should be able to fit into H8.

Killer series has two versions, 5800 and 580L. "L" stands for "Longer" in length.

Their advise is best using 4900 for H8.

Xspeed diameter is 26mm...When it's bolted on the stock mount, it's an exact fit, so anything bigger than 26mm diameter motor might not fit...:)
...Just use the Aon 4900 if it's advised

I just happen to take a trip to Southland Hobbies to pick up a few supplies and met Steve from AON and after speaking with him I would have to confirm that the 5800 would not fit. He actually had a 5800 with him and showed me the diffrence in size between the 4900 and the 5800. Looks like you would have to mod the chassis to make it fit. But it does sound like there are alot more things coming from AON in the future!!! :D

I think as long as the motor size is no more than 28mm x 48mm it will fit in!! about the shaft size...I was think may able to use other 48p pinion because I think the slipper gear is 48p.Because I am looing at Feigao's 380 brushless motor, it has 3.17mm shaft. Some one have to try it first :D
