So anyone have a 1/8 Inferno? They look really nice, but most are very expensive. And I don't really like nitro that much. But anyone that has one post here.

Nice TNB, how do you like that new variable dampening suspension? Is it all everyone says it is.

"For all your Mugen Racing Information" I suggest:
http://www.mugenracing.net/phpBB2/index.php

My current set up:
JR XS3 crystal less-radio transmitter with RS300 synthesized receiver
Novarossi / Rex .21P5 3.5 cc nitro engine
Novarossi Top EFRA – 9886 pipe
Airtronics (two) 94358 servos (ERG-VB high torque dual ball bearing)

Photo Link:

I may just switch it over to a Futaba reciever set up so I can use my Futaba T3PK that I have become so used to; however, I am in no hurry as long as I have free use of a warehouse to run my Kyosho Mini-Zs.

If your truggy is so great, why didn't it take Worlds? The Silver State Nitro Challenge is also coming up here, are you racing? You may have heard of the race since it gets lots of magazine coverage. Oh that's right, your truggy is electric. :p

remember electric buggy founded this hobby and is still arguably the most competitive...you often see electric mod buggy putting the fastest TQ...even with nitro at the same event. YEah gas may have a higher top speed with a 2 speed tranny but theres more to live than a loud pipe and a high top speed.

Tthough that buggy with substandard electronics and an unmatched pack looks ambitious but unpromising.

I was trying to make a joke as I assumed he was joking with me. You for one on this forum should know that I own more electrics than anything else. As far as that goes, my gasoline/oil mix cars are less of a pain than my nitros and I'm sure my little itty-bitty Xray M18 is faster with the brushless set up than my mbX5, but the fact of the matter, this weeks race is "nitro".

TNB...with your collection you need a separate hangar to garage them all...I still can't figure out how you have the time to run them all.

Well some RCs do sit more than others. Just last weekend when I was at the nitro track while they were getting ready to begin work on this weeks race layout, the guys next door at the 1/4 scale track gave me a bad time about not running my 1/4 scale (or my 1/5 scale). Soon I said, but as I told them I was not in a hurry as long as I have use of the warehouse.

The next day I did go run my Xray M18 and Tamiya F1 at a different track. Of course, I ran a few Zs a couple of days ago and will probably run them tonight. The thing is that I can run RCs at the local tracks during the weekends, and run the Zs at night as long as I have use of the warehouse.

The funny thing is that one guy asked me to bring all my Zs to Rialto--my reply, "Although I just purchased a new SUV and have more room to haul stuff, I don't think you realize just how many Zs I own." Consequently, I may take a few extra Zs since I should be getting a Whoa Nelly there and will be racing a few classes, but most of the RCs are staying at home.

Edit: Proof reading, what's that? Typos, where? Oops.

...TNB are you getting a MinFerno then? Another one for the stable?

...1:4? Dood thats almost a 1:1 Japanese economy car...The thing must be huge!! TNB whats up with the warehouse? is it free? condemned? Full of Zombies or what? Sounds like a GREAT place for a MinFerno dedicated track ;)

1:4 jsut looks cool...real hydrolic discs at every wheel...blistering speeds...REAL GAS...not even aware of a track on the east coast.

BitHed,
Although I don't really need one and really don't know why, I do plan to get a Half8. I just wish it was already in kit form. Regarding the warehouse, currently I have free use of a warehouse and that is where I have my RCP Track set up. A few photos are shown in my avatar, a few more on my website, and a lot more photos are in Gallery TNB. I have also attached an older photo of the 1/4 scale, the blue one near the dremel is a 1/5 scale, and you can probably pretty much guess the type and size of the other RCs.

ruknd,
It depends on which options you get. A full race F1 can get pretty darn expensive though--I've came close to purchasing one so many times. And when I finally decided to take the plunge, the distributor was not at one of the conventions (saved a few bucks there). However, I can probably get one at dealer cost right now since I hooked someone up with FG or at least so I was told bu the dealer). There is just very few places to run such large scale cars and the freaking tires are more than some full size tires.

concealing the z's TNB ;) ....yeah there seems to be a price premium for the 1/4 realism. There is NOWHERE here to run them and I've larned the better the playground the more fun you have. I forgot my digicam this friday but nexweekend I'll meracing fridaya nd sunday so I shoudl remember then...and if we get 5 or 6 1/2 8s they will set a class up....but they are always OK for practice

While at the Silver State race today, I was speaking with a few people regarding the 1/4 scale race in 2 weeks. One of racers had three 1/4 scales and two Outlaw cars in his trailer. Of course, there was the television and so on. Next door it was Atsushi Hara and down the road some other pro drivers. Anyway, here is one photo that I took at today's race.

The buggies and these newer MTs can get quite expensive real fast. I was informed that tires on Atushi Hara's MT were $160 USD for a set of four. Although that's almost as much as 1/4 scale tires, they must have been worth it to him (or his sponsers) since Hara won the A Main in that class. I did learn a new way to mount tires watching him.

and...care to share?

It's all about what you ahve to race by you...the nearest 1/8 racing is about 1.5 hours away....within an hour I have atleast 3 1:10 tracks...some do ahve stadium and monster racing...so now its down to the new adam drake...or a t-maxx or a revo...decisions decisions...

maybe I'llw ait till teh warm weather and try them all before I deide...but the revo looks like the best of both worlds.

What can I write, not to far from me are three 1/8th scale off-road tracks, one 1/8th scale on-road track, another smaller on-road track, and a 1/4 scale on-road track. Of course, there is my Z track too and another 1/8th scale off-road track in a nearby town. However, for something like 1/5th scale, I'd still have to go to California.

Regarding mounting the tires, he used duct tape. I could go more into it but you might already use duct tape. It all makes simple sense when one thinks about it considering I sort of do the same thing when running my modified Mini-Zs. The difference is that I "Z" discovered it by accident when running mod motors not that long ago. :)

Here is a link for some coverage (standings, photos, videos, and so on) on the Silver State race.

Hello. how do I order and pay for clear bodies? I need two (to start) though I don't have the car yet. We are waiting on the slow boat from Hong Kong.
Need front and rear shocks and tire and wheels. Are the wings available?
I saw a pic. on a German website of some interesting parts like a heat sink motor mount and alum. steering knuckles. Monkeytoy I think. Do you know anything about those?

Thanks.

An old thread with a bit of new news--I ended up purchasing two "used" Kyoshos tonight at one of the local races--one being one of the buggies I took a photo of earlier and posted. Of course, they are dirty since I just got them home and the collection has increased quite a bit since I last posted on this thread--I could list the new editions but it is just easier to read the numbers on the signature.

How you been? What is the weather like in Las Vegas around Christmas. Could I get some run time at one of the tracks around time? Might be spending a week or so in your town and want to scout for the Silverstate race.

Not bad here--just toying with other RCs since the Z track is down. I need to fix the Mugen and will probably turn one of the Kyoshos into a truggy as soon as I figure out which one I want to convert. You should have been here yesterday--it is still hitting the 90F's.

Eheheheheh... Adam... dont be deceived by a signature lmaoooooo
I dont have much time right now to drive what ever it is... a lot is going on at work but yes... its damn fast... and with the SP2 kit it's even faster ;)
Since i didnt had time i asked to a good friend of mine to redo the 777 with the SP2 kit and went to a track near us to test it. He's impressions (he also has one but on the SP1 version) is that the car can set faster steady laps and way more stable on turns and landings then the previous version, it also seems that the on fly nose down issue dont show as much as on the SP1 version so.... YES, i'm anxious to drive it but work comes first and i'm at a stage that is crucial to focus on my company so it will have to wait... the only free minutes i can afford right now are spent here and on a few other sites i monitorized to keep up with whats going on.

P.S.: Adam.. i'm gona ask someone to try to take care fo the paper work in order to do what we agreed to, sorry its taking so long but i've been really swamped here. :o

Lol, no problems JT  . Did they fix the dogbone issue in the rear as well? I remember on the few SP1's I've seen they liked to throw the rear bones out of the diff outdrives. Maybe it was just retards that didn't know how to build a car, but it seemed to be an inherent problem. The SP2 is definitely a great car. Xray has been doing well at all these big races as well, and that's the next buggy I'm going to get :D .

plain_simple
10-08-2005, 05:37 PM
Yes, they did fixed that problem.. thing was that the left dogbone was a tiddy shorter (1mm or so) then the right one and you needed to measure them to know what was what but now they are both the same size and it works ok... that was already solved on the last rear dogbones version even before the SP2 version showed. I have the same dogbones i had one the SP1 version (the last update i was talking about) and L/R are now exactly the same ;)
Xray is also a good bet man.. you will be a happy camper as long you manage to understand all those setup possibilities :D and also if you manage to solve those camber parts because it seems that they brake a lot.. i already saw people using other brand parts (i think its was ofna) to replace them.
