Hello,

I -offcourse- encountered a few problem during the mounting of the car.

1) One of the titanium diff outdrives was broken in the package
2) The carbon steering linkage from 3Racing has 2 flanged bearings. One flange bearing was broken in the package (flange detached from bearing)
3) The carbon front shock tower broke after an impact of max 5 km/h
4) The Mamba . . . . man, everything works but my top speed is 24 km/h ????
What am I doing wrong?
I used 2 different transmitters (KO PROPO EX-10 Helios and a standard Graupner XJR5) and both give me a top speed of 24 km/h. Which is slower than the X-speed . . .
I took it completely apart (took over 1 hour) and every diff is working very smooth. When all is mounted and I spin the front wheels, the rear wheels spin very free also.
My Mamba is a 6800 with a 11 pinion.
It accelerates also rather slow (15 m to get to top speed).
The setup is going perfect, and the programming is also without any problems.
The motor is hardly warm after 1 battery run .

I'm out of ideas . . . has anybody any suggestions

Cheers ,
Koen

Loose slipper clutch perhaps?

I'ts closed completely with an atomic clipperclutch pad. I'vs tried to loosen it but no visible changes. I can put it so loose that the screw touches alomst the diff housing. I couldn't even do that with the standard motor !....
It's like the engine lacks torque to move the car forward.

Thanks for the advise .

What kind of batts are you using? The mamba needs lots of juice so id use URC packs.

not to be harsh, but i posted this on your thread before, (the one with all the parts in the bags) and i told u that the mamba will have trouble getting the h8 moving, especially with all those aluminum parts since its so small, and i said that you would be better off with the aon4900 and the mamba 25 esc.

Hi .5x8,

Your words were the first that came up in my mind when I encountered the problems.
I'm gonna buy me an AON4900 . Where can I buy it (and a shop that's willing to ship to Belgium)

cheers
Koen

...I dunno about the batteries, when the ESC first accelerates, it tries to draw as much as 50Amps, your batteries may not be discharging fast enough...GP1100 2/3A cells are probably the best batteries to use, with a discharge rate of 30Amps, it the highest out there i think. :)

I meant perhaps it is already too loose and is slipping too much.

In one of the pics. it looks like the bushing is not even seated inside of the small gear . Might want to check the manual to see if it is toghether correctly......

Any of the Mamba motors should be able to make this buggy fly, the problem is that in some cases too much heat is generated and\or there is excessive cogging.

If your motor is not getting hot, then it is not being loaded down, and if the motor is not seeing a load then something is very likely to be slipping in the drivetrain, which explains the slower than expected top speed. Small things like a missing wheel pin can cause this as well, does the buggy track straight under acceleration?

FWIW the 4200 mamba motor works sweet in this buggy, it gets fairly warm, but is still well below the 200*f that Castle Creation's Shaun Palmer has stated as the upper temp. limit to preserve motor magnet life.

Call their customer service number, they are super cool, perhaps they will even let you exchange your motor for one that is more suitable for this buggy or they might have some other ideas that you can try.

The general tone of this board seems to be to throw $$$ at every problem, many times though problems can be solved for next to nothing by using your wits and skills as a crafstman, seeking out and recognizing good advice when it is offered, and applying the lessons, and intuit you have gathered through your life experience. Good luck and please keep us posted on how this turns out ;)

The PN pack has no power compared to the URC packs-difference is night and day!!!

Before you spend another fortune on a new motor, have your tried the easier and much cheaper way... change pinion to 9T instead of your 11T?

yeah change the pinion and also maybe you should consider to go lipos instead of getting a new motor. That will give you the juice you need to make the mamba fire up :)
Just my 50 cents lol
