...I think that you can use any receiver that comes with your radio, be it AM or FM... as long as it fits...Novak's XXL, Futaba's R133F, R142JE are pretty nice for their small size :)

can i just use the stock radio and then use the xxl or one of the other ones?

...Don't think so..the Novak XXL being $50@TowerHobbies, you may be better off buying a new AM radio system...begging my parents for some cash to buy me a radio system myself :D

as far as receivers: you can get a 3-channel FM Hitec HFS-03MM Rx for $32.99 and it's smaller than the XXL

I heard that the 18t reciver is very good in the H8 but its sort of pricy.

...If you mean cheap as under $50 radio systems, the Hitec's AM Agressor, Airtronics' AM Blazer will do you good, the receivers are larger, but you get what you pay for...Futaba's 2PL AM radio system @$65 has the slightly smaller R142JE receiver... :)

That's all I know...c'mon...for a 15 year old you don't do too much research ;)

Is FM really the way to go? Beacause if I get an FM radio and reciver, I'm gonna be expecting generaly better than AM. I'm too cheap for FM also, but it's worth it to get an FM reciver and radio, then I'll do it.

i have a futaba magnum transmitter and a receiver but im not sure what kind it is but will a full size receiver fit in the h8 since i already have an extra one?

Almost ANY full size receiver will fit the Mini Inferno...It's just the case of finding another place to put the ESC...Think the Futaba Magnum will work just fine...don't forget the servo as well :)

I think FM radios have less interference and problems...glitches

I haven't raced my H8 yet... no time and I just got my body from Proline (I'm not going to race against 12 of the same car)...

but where I plan to race, they have flourescent lighting... which interferes with AM signals and causes a little glitching... I use FM and I have had nary a problem

flourescent lighting... which interferes with AM signals and causes a little glitching...

...Aww bummer...can't afford an FM system...guess I'll have to avoid those kind of things then :)

or u can use the stock transmitter with a RC18T reciever since they are Both AM 27. My friend does it and he never glitches. At my track in SAcramento i never have probs with gliching.i use a Blazer.
