I've decided to go brushless! Are there any other ESC options besides the mamba 25, LRP Sphere, and the novak? I'm going to be running 8-cell batteries and plan on using the AON 4900 since that seems to be the best choice! Thanks for the help! :)

T241549-Mamba T2415-4900 + Castle Creations Mamba 25 Controller

its 140 bucks!

The T2415-4900 motor (http://www.aonelectric.com/Products/BrushlessMotors/Thrust/thrust.html?Category=Thrust) has 2.0 mm shaft size. But the standard 380 sized motor has 2.3 mm shaft size.

...i would SO love to have an ALL LRP car...but until then, and if you are just getting into brushless, i would recommend the MAMBA 25 with the snake-charmer tune and the AON 4900...quick and easy and simple, and bes of all, essentially maintenance free...but all the best of luck to you if you decide to start out on a different path :D Keep us informed...

AND YOUR POINT IS?!?...your gonna run different pinions anyways (depending how you drive) the aon 4900 IS PERFECT for the H8..as you can see..i ahve been on the forums for quite a while...and i have read EVERYTHING..the aon 4900 is powerful enough to move the h8 FAST...is a perfect fit..and lookZ AwSOME! lol :) so dont say im wrong about giving him a wrong recommendation...because if you ask anyone with a aon 4900 in their h8...they are happy :D

my only experiences driving my friends mamba w/ a mamba motor in either a RC18T or a Mini-T-I felt like it has a slight lag at the very bottom of the throttle curve which I couldn't stand since I'm a guy that loves a very sensitive, punchy trigger. Is this something that others have noticed with mamba ESC's and can it be tuned through profile settings? Thanks for all the replies!!
P.S.- I just ordered my 3Racing alloy knuckles-I'm stoked to get rid of alot of the slop I've been driving with!!

you can tune that out with the programming, either with the Mambalink USB plug to your computer or through the in-car programming beeps and boops...

it's better through Mambalink because you can actualy SEE the throttle curve and set it accordingly

Just ordered a AON 4900, Mamba 25 ESC, and the USB link!!! I cant wait!!! Thanks guys. OH-what tooth pinion should I use with this combination and do the HPI micro pinions fit on the AON 4900? Thanks again!!! :)

I have an HPI 13 tooth on mine... the pinion works great but you have to mount it backwards (with the set screw facing outward and the teeth closer to the can)

i think thats just for the larger scales but it should work although the 25 is the best choice i think, light and reliable!

I heard the quark is ok too but the brakes are not very good. why is everyone running smaller than stock pinions with the 4900 AON motor? it should have way more torque than the stocker so why don't people gear up?
