...Both are really good direct drop ins for the Mini Inferno, The HS-81 is faster and cheaper, the HS-85 is stronger, and slower but more expensive, and i think centers better or something...

Your choice, your money (HS-85MG) :)

people complain about the 81 not centering properly... but I don;t think the problem exists with the MG version...

I have the 85 in mine.... but that's because the 81 I had was missing the "ears" from a previous install

You guys might also want to consider the Multiplex Polo Digi-4 which is basically a digital version of the HS-85.

Here's the info: http://www.multiplexusa.com/RC-comp/Servos/Polo.htm

its a little bigger than the hitec ones but should still fit from towers specs. I may have to give that one a shot.

Has anyone else tried a digital Hitec 5245MG yet? I put one in mine and love it. It's a little slower than the Multiplex one, but it has more torque. The specs @6 volts - .12 transit and 76 in/oz. of torque. Tower has them for $48.

exactly what im running..very precise indeed, thank god i didnt sell it because it was just a bit big for my m18, had it in my box for months then as soon as i got the H8 i saw it would fit nicely..havent looked back since

sounds pretty good. My hitec 81mg doesn't center too well because it has no torque. Maybe I will pic up that one instead.

Note that Multiplex uses 40 degrees of travel not 60 for the speed. Don't ask why... Therefor the speed is not as fast as some might think. It is .12 @ 6V (60 degrees).

Yes, I have one my Half 8 and I really like it.

The 5245MG is a good choice too but slight overkill... although I'm never one to put down overkill! ;) I'd like to see some pictures of how you guys mounted it.

Here is my 5245MG installed. It fits perfectly in the J servo mount. I just wish the servo wires weren't so looooong.

if have steady hands, you can trim the wires and re-solder them to the circuit bored

mine had the mounting ears hacked off from the m18 micro usage, so just ole reliable sho-goo is holding mine in place...thing aint going anywhere :o
