www.socalrc.com is one of the best mini tracks I've ever been at, (just setup your suspension for really bumpy terrain, all the b4's and t4's reall tear apart that really high bite indoor track)

all i need is some 30wt oil so its good for running on the track...the oil in the 3racing shocks are stiff! and my dads is all how pathetic..and i dont even have my settings right....just because it was bouncing around...and i was going slow on big jumps because i didnt want to crash...watch..ill show him..lol but its a wicked fun track to drive on! totally kicks ass! hey akura...how does the aon 4900 run on there in the h8?

ok, i know i will problably be going this friday night for the race, and if theres not enough mini's you race 1/10 scale trucks which are easy with h8's and my rc18t cause if you got mamba power you can kill them 1/10 on the straight, I match mod buggies at like 1/2 throttle with my rc18t so 1/10 scale novice are nothing if you don't trambled on the first turn! :D

but, no other Half8s. Well, time to bulletproof the buggy and strap on the brushless. I'm just waiting for my lipo from URC. Hope to see you guys next

We had a blast last night. My daughter's first experience going around the track was great. We ran a Baja motor in her MiniT and I was surprised how fast it was. I ran the Aon 4900 with a 11.1v Lipo from United RC in my 8 and all I can say is WOW! It easily kept up with mod 10 scales on the straight and I could clear all the jumps. I'm still learning how to be consistent with throttle control on the jumps but, I'm getting the hang of it. I made the mistake of not setting the pinion mesh properly and stripped a Robinson 13 tooth pinion. The spur gears by Atomic are quite bullet proof. I had to settle for a 14 tooth for the rest of the night. It made the motor run a little hot so I reammed a couple of holes on the body. The temp was managable for the rest of the night. A 12 or 13 tooth pinion is better suited for the current layout. Anyway, until next Thursday.

I want to go and so does Jeremy and Cavalieri, but so far they don't have a class for us. Its so unfare to race the toy class that too many people (read manufactures) are complaining. Seems losing by a "hundred laps" upsets some manufactures  I say don't hate the player hate the game. We have something that is so far above what is available now that we are going to get shut out (or try) by anyone with an interest in selling their product rather that actually racing and proving their worth. Does not bother me a bit, i'm gonna race my half 8 and show any pretender what mini performance is all about. Step up or step aside is what i say!!!!

Where are all those Vedeta's and AE buggies?

pointcrossed
11-24-2005, 09:18 PM
The sad thing is they may never have a class for 1/16 unless it gets poplular enough or if Associated or Losi make a 1/16, and thats a longshot, they may make 1/16 trucks first and set us up for the okey-doke. .

What it all boils down to is Losi and HPI restarted this whole mini RC, before them it was Tamiya. Back then it was a flash in the pan today its cookin. The only way we can race is if the Inferno gets hot  (popular) or we all show up at SoCal and make a class. I think you need at least 4 to make a class so get the word out and group together, its worth doing because SoCal has a F1 class with 4, point given...

Just want to thank the moderators for not letting me edit my post or doing it for me like i asked.
I may have been a little harsh to some of the other manufactures and i wanted to tone it down a bit.
:o

Kyosho hardly needs any other manufacture to make a class. The half 8 is taking over the mini market and anyone not supporting them is missing out on a lot of sales. Small is small.... 1/16th is an accurate scaling of the 777, Those others do not support or even produce the top level of off-road which is 1/8th scale buggies. Kyosho brought 1/8th to the states, brought a world title to the USA, and continues to push the 1/8th buggy to new levels. The half 8 is just a low cost extention of that. I have always heard from some that Kyosho won this or Kyosho won that only because of this or that.... fact is we have R&D, we are a racing company, we strive to be the best when others bust out the calipers and try to copy. If you look closely you will see the copycats and you will see the innovator.
If i am stepping on any toes they should keep their toes back with the toys.

:o

Pretty strong words Regan, coming from somebody that works for a company that produces the world champion buggy year after year. Funny thing is the MP777 sp1 and sp2 are playing at a level the other manufacturers are not even aware exists.

Ok, I know I missed somthing?

Anyways, the whole toy race class thing seems like a bunch of garbage to me if its being rated at vehicle kits below 1/10 or even 1/18 and below as toy class. If that is the case, then the RC18T is out of spec for the 1/18 class because it is actually larger than other 1/18 or that would make the mini T 1/20. They race so called "toy class" on a regular race day and their yearly supercross with Pro Mod buggy. Seems like they have some local manufacturer influence.

Problem is these manufacturers that sell to big chain distributors or distribute to local mom and pop shops, dont care or want to try and support the racing scene unless its their product that is on the track, thats why there is an increase in the sale of RTR and their popularity has increased, but in turn leaves no room for other manufacturers that have somthing similar that is competitive.

That is why you can go to any SoCal 1/8 scale dirt track and find only one Inferno kicking butt in a pack of RTR ofna's who has 10 different versions because they cant get it right and probably never will.

Thats why there are enthusiasts that come to this forum and ask questions like, whats the mini Inferno like?; where can I see one?; is it fast?; any problems?

The brutal truth is the kit that is racing and winning is the one they are going to buy, and if the competitors arent selling or have support then they have a harder time racing and a harder time winning, and if that does not work, then your kit is not allowed because it does not meet "spec" to race on this track or this class, which has been tried before and local tracks are adopting...

In short, if it wins, it sells. If it does not race, then it does not win, therefore it does not sell...

There,,, I said it.......

BTW, I picked up a 777 Special 2 tonight... :D

You did not see anything on the Potbellys race? The Mini Inferno was faster than anything that was on that track, not just its own class, but ANYTHING that ever set tire on that track. It would not be to the 1/18th products to run Mini Infernos in their class. But then again it might sale more product...LOL...... The Mini Inferno is popular, the problem is trying to get mini inferno owners to congregate at one track for a race.
