A friend of mine got a 6800 mamba motor for his half8. He is using kyosho battery (GP 1100 9.6v) without the protection circuit. He closed the slipper all the way.
I did all the programming.
There is one problem: When we apply throtle, the car starts to hickup [SIC].
If we squeeze the trigger very gently all the way down, the car accelerates fine.
The battery is fully charged, the transmitter is a futaba 3pk with a r113f reciever. The radio configuration is the default one.
He is using a 13T pinion from associated (from rc18t).
I tried everything I remembered in the programming. I changed the timming, brake strength, the way it brakes, initial start up strength, etc, but nothing seems to work.
Is this the motor defective? Maybe the sensors?

PLease help. Thanks.

I have a 3PK. There is a programable throttle curve you can set up. This will make it work for you. It is in TH-EXP section pages 20-21 in the manual.

I talked to Shawn Palmer over at Castle Creations...and he said (and from my own experience) hiccups can be caused by the batteries not putting out enough amperage... I was using KAN 1050's with my AON 4900... and it hiccuped all the time... and sometimes it didn't even run... now I'm using GP1100s and it works fine....

Not related to your problem, but isn't 13T a little large for that motor?

that's another thing I was thinking about along with the lack of amperage from those batteries

Hi:-)

From my experiance, it's your battery's 90% for sure.. I also used the KAN 1050's, and no show in the accleration-dept. Switched to Orion GP1100's -
and now it's burning rubber on pavment from a standstill :D

Thanks to all of you guys. What pinion size (teeth) do you recomend?
About the batteries...
As I said before, they are the Kyosho's GP 1100 9.6 V, without the protection circuit.
Aren't they good enough? Has anyone had problems with this batteries using a mamba 6800?

Thanks.

I'm running 9T w/ no heat issues. I'm going to try 10T tomorrow. :)

Hi guys,

I just finished building up my h8 and I'm having the same hicup problem with the 6800, 11t, URC 42s pack, and an M8.

I played with the th-exp and it didn't change anything.

Hey Little_Horn did you ever solve this?

Since it's been a while, did you like the 10T? Did you move up more yet? I must be a mad man since I'm running a 14T still. First with the CM2080 and then the AON.

Unfourtunatly I am one of countless sufferers who are halfeight chalenged, though not for long if have anything to say about it, I think the problem you are refering to as "hic-ups" is, if I'm understanding you correctly, is also refered to as cogging, I had the same expeiriance when I put a 6800 into my mini-t, but I invested in a set of 6 gp 1100s that came from orion as a matched set, I've got more than enough tourque and insane speed, also play around with different pinion and even spur combinations, I've heard with the half eight you need to make some kind of heat sink,

A fan is highly recommended if you are using Mamba in summer day.
