So longer axles means that you can fit bigger wheels on the H8 without rubbing on the chassis?

Because those wheels looks both bigger and more sexy that stock!

... Or maybe it is just the pics? It looks kinda weird.

The first pic does kind of look funny, makes the half8 look short and stubby. But the second pic looks alot better. Thats cool that they also made longer axles because I am currently running with the itsy bitsy spyder adapters and there isn't much thread for the nut to hold onto.

I want them badly too! Can't stand the brittle Kyosho stock rims anymore  and would like to fit some nice-looking and sturdy 1/10 scale wheels :)

Hey Crunch, what is the brand of the wheels you got on your H8 and where to find them?

Would these get rid of the 3 racing swing shafts?

.5x8
06-09-2005, 12:59 PM
these arent CVDS and some people call the 3racing swing shafts...these are longer axles so you have alot more thread to put on 1/10 wheels, AND it probably already comes with an adapter

BLACKHAWK444
06-09-2005, 01:33 PM
Is that a yes or a no....

akura2
06-09-2005, 02:36 PM
Yes it gets rid of your CVDs... these adaptors are for use with the stock doggy bones.... looking at the last pic, the kit comes with longer axles AND the bigger hexes... and not just an adaptor for the standard axles...

and the pics look like they may have used HPI Super Nitro rally wheels and Tires...that's why they look so big... they are 2.2-inches in diameter versus 2-inches... but those tires and wheels are still available in regular 1/10 scale size.. I heard back from my buddies at HPI and the said they are around

Well I guess I won't get it then, because I just ordered the swing shafts. Hopefully Pro-line will start making some buggy tires/wheels for the half 8.

Hello people, yes you are right on the wheels being HPI Super Nitro 2.2 the tires are HPI 2.2 part number 4475. I will send crunch a few more pics. of the H8 with the smaller 1/10 HPI set up with the 4470 pin tires so you can take a look. The axles are steel and we are getting the blackened right now so they do not rust. I get them back by mid next week. With the 86L20 steel we used they willnot fail. Mostly the 2.2 we are using, is for our 540 burshless set up that will run a 4mm axle and a complete tube drive system we are right in the middle of. Our aluminum chassis for the 540 is the same as the stock chassis in lenght. We just moved the tranny back a half inch to clear the servo area. Also I am sorry for not staying in touch as much. It is just the 2 of us and to be honest, I dont even know what day it is. But we do thank all our customers. CAW. :) ;)

That's what I thought... :D... can't wait to see the mini with "normal" wheels and tires....

as far as the 540 conversion... that would be a great idea as long as you set the chassis up to use sub-C cells instead of the 2/3A cells as the smaller cells may not have the amperage to power a 540-sized motor.. that's why anyone who is doing 540 conversions for the micro cars is going with larger batteries (ie. Aktion RC)

a 540 motor can MELT small cells.....

Hey Bit... I got your IM...sorry I missed you...I should be on all day tomorrow... hit me up....

Back on topic:

I have to weigh my 1/10 scale wheels and tires against the stock setup to see just how much weight is added.... if it's minor, then I'm not going to worry about it... it may be worth it to have the wheels and tires I want w/o waiting on Proline..... I found a place that has the HPI pin-spike rally tires in 1/10 scale.... I'm going to grab those and put them on some lightweight rims like the HPI Super Stars, or Mesh so I have a soft dirt alternative to my Pirelli Rally tires

...those were the exact mesh rims i have had on my mind...Those or the KYOSHO equivalent which are a little tricky to find but good when you do...I dont like the super stars and dishes are too heavy...All i need to check really is the INNER 'spines' of the rims to check they dont hit...I am too poor for the CAW axles so will be sticking with BitHex's...

=] nice!! not a fan of all the chrome...but i like the idea of how you chrome it so it matches all ur parts =] MAKE A CHROME BODY! LMAO! lol

ps: how much heavier and slower is the car with the 1/10 scale wheels?

akura2
06-12-2005, 09:12 PM
well MY 1/10 scale wheels and tires weigh 1.1oz a piece compared to the stock setup weighing .85oz a piece.... so there isnt much difference... I still think that even the mesh wheels in that pic are the Super sized wheels which are pretty much 1/8 scale versus 1/10 scale... if I'm wrong then I'm wrong... but they look bigger than 1/10 in that picture... it could be because of the semi-wide angle camera lens distorting it... I'm getting black mesh for mine... I should have my wheels and tires by Tuesday at the latest

Brother Acura,

What brand of hex adaptor are you using?

akura2
06-13-2005, 11:21 AM
Trinity... it's only one out until CAW releases theirs...

anything else you may have seen around are just replacements for the stock pieces in aluminum so they are not for fitting 1/10 scale wheels

Okay, that's what I have. But the Itsy Bitsy one is too thick. I am still sanding them down to thinner size but I don't have the right tools for trimming them... So their surfaces are now uneven, I will probably bring them to a hardware shop asking the expert to help me with the job.

akura2
06-13-2005, 05:55 PM
you would probably have to clamp them in a lathe and trim them down that way... at least they'll be even....

BUT that is if you have access to one... not everybody does

That's my problem, I don't have the proper tool to hold the hex adaptors still for trimming. I am using a hand-clamp to hold it and trim with a hand-held drill. The result is horrible.

I will go to hardware store today to see if I could find anything fit for that purpose.

Guess you never saw my 15x2 540 Mini Quake...I really need to build another or start building a 540 half8. GP1100 cells are OK to use with a 540 (either stock or slower mod) but you can't expect more than 5 minutes run time.
