Well talked to the parents a bit and they are going to let me make a track in the front yard field area. Its kind of a big triangle but should be PLENTY of space for my half 8 and t-maxx. I drew up 2 rough ideas. To give you an idea of size the bottom straight away is 3 feet wide. The brothers might both pick up a 18t to race with or just use my t-maxx and rustler.

Looking for any ideas, suggestions, whatever. Looking forward to start clearing the spot so I can have some fun.

V. cool! Have you tried just marking the general layout and making sure your various cars can get around it? (before spending all the time to dig it out and then finding it's not useable or not fun). :)

Right now its in the middle of a field. I am going to take the lawn mower through it a few times first. I think it should be pretty fun. This is a slightly scaled down and modified version of the track my LHS has. I am using the right side straightaway and corner before it from his track. If its no fun I can always just let the weeds take it over again. I am going to get sand/clay/whatever free so I won't loose cash on it, just a day or two worth of work.

As for marking it I kind of drew it out on the driveway in chalk to see how various things would fit and I think it should be pretty good. The t-maxx might be a little big but it will still fit.

I'll get some pics as I do it so I can upload maybe make a mini guide.

Nice track design! I wish I had enough room to build one like that.

Got it started. Here is the proposed area after I took out some lil trees and the bird house

And after some mower work and a lot of raking

Got it about half way cleaned up with the rototiller but got sore pretty quick with that stupid thing.

To anyone who is thinking of doing this I have a few quick things you'll want to do.
If you don't have a riding lawnmower find someone that does. IT HELPS A LOT
Second if possible find a FLAT spot. It will speed up the process a lot.
Talk someone into helping you :) Talked my brother into helping

Will be posting pics pretty much nightly until complete.

Hey I was thinking after I am all done with this project I might make something like a guide to help people that want to think about making a track. Pry include a ton of pictures as well as some usefull links. Then somehow make it easily accesible in one of the forums. Just a thought, I am inside cooling off...man rototillers suck but they speed things up SO much

Heres an update. Rain has been a pain here. Used a rototiller to tear the heck out of everything. It looks linka flat cause brother got bored and drove the tractor around on it :( But tomorrow I think I'll use garden hose, lawn tools, whatever to kind of laying out the track. Then I will start to flatten, build jumps etc.

If using rototiller make sure you have gloves...my hands are a solid calis.

Sadly no :( I ended up picking up a 1976 MGB Roadster so that is taking up all of my time trying to restore that. I got the land all flattened and ready though, so next summer I should be able to mow it then bring in dirt and start making jumps. Just not enough time sadly :( Hopefully I'll be able to find some time next summer and get it finished up.

I was thinking of making spiked tires for the winter and make myself a ice/packed snow track. Did that a few years ago for the T-maxx and it took a few hours but was a LOT of fun.

That would be sweet, have like an Ice track for Minis. I might have an idea this winter for my H8 in my pack yard, or even better, the golf course across the street :D
