Ok after being dragged by my girlfriend to target on a shopping trip. I happened to walk into an isle that had Rit Dye, so I decide to buy and try dyeing some half8 parts. I followed the instructions and for some reason the wing didn't take the color very good. I threw a set of rims to see what happened and they turned out fine. So now i'm stuck with this greyish blue wing...lol. Take a look its in the pics below.

Just in time!! I'm going to dye the wing black tonight.

How long did you leave it in the dye for? The longer you leave it, the darker it'll get.

:D

Not sure exact time but it was in there for awhile. I might try it again tomorrow but this time with two boxes of dye. Then we will see what happens. They strange thing is that the rim in the pic wasn't in the dye as long.. must be a diffrent type of plastic?

Just alittle something to think about.... I dyed a white wing this same way before with rit dye and it does not turn out to be a great black. In the the house it looks black but when you go outside or in a bright light you can see that it is a weird black-brown. I dyed mine and let it soak for about 30 min. which should have been long enough, it just doesn't look like a jet black wing. Just wanted to mention it so yu guys arn't surprised.

Another option is paining it with that "Krylon Fusion" paint. It specifically formulated to bond to plastic... it actualy inpregnates the plastic for a super bond. I have used for lots of stuff on my REVO and have ben very happy with the results. Just make sure you let it have ample time to dry and the stuff is pretty bullet proof.

Just something to think about.

Thanks Bit, Sorry to hear about Panic and hope it is a short term "stress-out" that will go away soon. My divorce has me a "LITTLE" on edge and sometimes I don't seem to handle it to well.

Hey bit buddy, I'm sorry to hear about Panic Toys. Don't give up so easily, that's how business is, every field has its ups and downs, good and bad.

Remember you are dealing with a new car (the H8) and new parts. This is all in the name of fun, you have built yourself a good rep. which is something not every business can achieve.

Hang in there, I'm sure it'll all be better tomorrow.

What rim tire combo is that and what do I need to get those rims on my inferno? Thanks for the help...

maxxenitout

Those rims are the Hpi 10spoke 26mm rim and the tires are the Pirelli "T" Rally tire. All you need are either the Trinity Itsy Bitsy Spyder wheel adaptors these...
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKBG7&P=7
Or the new adapters from CAW.

Hey .5x8 buddy, you SERIOUSLY need to read BEFORE you post again. Re-read this ENTIRE thread and you will find the answer to where to buy the dye.

Also, if you RE-READ this tread again, you'll know the guy who said Bit has gained great rep is ME! It's only 7 posts up from yours.

Dude....READ!!!!

Hi Crunch,
since this is a board primarily about the Kyosho Mini Inferno and this thread started about using water soluible dyes to change the color of plastic parts, I don't see the relevance of you comment. Since you are not one of the administrators of this board, your comments on .5x8 style of posting are somewhat inappropriate in my opinion. I would prefer that you keep comments ABOUT others on the board to yourself. If you don't like his posting style, perhaps you could skip his posts instead of inflaming your irritation with him.
Might I suggest that instead of chiding him about not reading (an assumption on your part) the thread, you could post a link or repost the information. If he sees that it came from from this thread he might recognise that he missed it earlier.

I am much more irritated by posters making judgements about others poster's personality and style than .5x8's posts.

So feel free to post about your changes and trials concerning your H8 and RC in general. Please try and keep in mind though that that is the subject or should be.

Hey Maxx...

Next time you are in Lakewood, could you see if they have the other HPI Rally tires (the non-pirelli knobby ones)? I spoke to some friends at HPI and they said they should still be available around.

That's what I thought, AR123998 says he has some in hand, so he might know something we don't, i.e. that the pic on 3R's site is inaccurate and they really are adapters. Unlikely, but wanted to double check! :)

They are hex adapters in that they take it from a round axle with pin to a hex for the wheel. Pretty standard terminology.
