Hi, just got my Mamba 8000kv package today.

What 11T pinion should I use? Please kindly state Brand and model number if any. Hopefully without modification.

RC18T 11T needs NO modification? If need to modify, please teach me how.

Thanks!

The associated 11t pinion is a little long. Grind off the set screw end, almost down to the set screw. Make sure it still has enough meat to hold the screw securely. It will fit perfectly then.

I see, I bought the RC18T 11T pinion together with my Mamba, I though I bought the wrong one. So it is too long in size. :(

Okay, is there any other suggestion?

No it's not the wrong one. If you install it w/o grinding it down the spur gear will try and run off the back of the splines. Not a good thing.

As for other suggestions, Hold on to your hat because you are gonna be flying. :D Just make sure that your gear mesh is set properly or as bit found out your slipper will quickly look like "kojack" LOL.

Sorry... which RS4? Micro RS4, RS4 Rally, RS4 Nitro...

I checked HPI website, many of its cars are named with RS4... or they all use the same 12T pinion?

Ok after recent events ie.... smoked mamba I know for a fact that you should not use a pinion over 11 teeth on the H8 and a Mamba 6800 .... I was told by Castle that even an 11 tooth is really close to pushing it and should have a heat sink on it. I am currently using a 10 tooth pinion from Team Associated that is for the RC18T ..... and as of yet no problems with heat ....

Torn what happened. I have had a terrible problem with my 6800Kv. with an 11t associated pinion. Feels like something is floating around in the can. What have you experienced.. See my post in brushless motors forum "Grumpy Mamba" for the whole ugly story..........

Ok basically the reccomendation I got from Castle was that a 10 tooth was the best route to go on the 6800 kv motor and 8 Cells ... I smoked mine because one of the motor wires had a bad connection in it and it was somewhat overgeared ..... ie ....13 tooth pinion ...called Castle they said send it in ...a wekk we'll send it back ....

Got my motors back and they are as paerfect as the day they came out of their respective boxes ..... Again with the recommendation that I dont use a pinion gear over 11 teeth .....

I havent had any problems with the Team Associated RC18T pinions not fitting or needing modded to fit .... just slap 'em in a and boogie
