probably not very good for your half-8
It is a 300 size motor that says high RPM
probably a scorcher in the 8

Wait, I am thinking backwards...I bet it will work awsome in a half8. It is a 300 size meaning that it is like the AON size motors. 5000kv is pretty high too. Somebody should give it a try.
I was thinking 300 like the mamba is used for 300 replacement but is actuall like 180 size.

For off road use I think the openings in the motor can will let dirt and grit in...probably not a good thing. For on road use it would probably do pretty good.

...I agree with both rstn AND moose...But i would be very wary of the holes...holes + dirt is not the best mixture...But grab it and chuck it in :D

I wouldn't worry about it too much because that end is mounted partially in the gear cover. That and their is actually wind blowing out of elec motors that keeps a lot of crud out. My trinity Monster motor (1/10) has huge vents in the side but nothing really makes its way into it.

...if you say so moose ;) In that case i will go ahead and modify my AON with an open front...but there IS a mention in the attached notes of the motor that recommend NOT driving in dirt and wet...Which is ALWAYS good advice for an off-road vehicle..LOL...

I know it sounds goofy but for the most part, dirt will stay clear of the inside of the motor. I am thinking of track type conditions though. For some reason off road means damp, treated ground. So if you are bashing with large debris or sand or something than yea that definately a no go for large vented-motors. I am going to sleep now.
