You can use RC18T pinions, they mesh pretty good. :)

integy was a small #s pinion set available...also i believe the stock rc18t pinions go down to a 11t

hpi has a 9t for the micro rs4

I'm using HPI 9T... with 6 cells no heat problem (mamba 8000kv), waiting for my United 8 cell

Amatuer questions: :o

10T makes more heat than 12T? or the other way around?

10T is faster or 12T?

Less teeth = more torque and less max speed (think at your bycicle...)
More torque = more job for the motor so I think more heat...

Thanks!

I just ordered an RC18T 11T pinion from Tower and Mamba 8000 motor+ESC

Is it needed to do any modification to the Pinion? I heard it is too long and need some trimming for installing in an H8.

Is there any pinion in the market (11T or 12T) which needs NO modification at all for this setup?

actually a smaller pinion will cause less heat than a larger. You will get more torque because of the gear ratio but it also means their will be less heat. You are not stressing the motor by alowing it to turn more rpm.

But the problem, i think, in a large track is that you have to go many time at max rpm, so the mamba gets very hot ( with a 10t pinion).

...late post...I am using an HPI 12t with an AON 4900 and 6 cells...ZERO heat problems and they mesh like they have been friends from hugh school :D

...i had an ill-fitting 14t on with an 8 cell...it was a 2.3mm pinion but it fit ok and it was all i had...I was actually a little confused with what i DID have in my parts box and I later fitted the HPI 14t which fit MUCH better on the shaft and had more 'tread' allowing for better matching...

...The 2.3mm 14t wasnt meshed very well at all and took out my slipper gear...

...CAUTION!!! If you are using a brushles motor i suggest fitting it as CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET to the BIG gear in the slipper...If you feel your motor / motor mount has moved even a litle bit STOP IMMEDIATELY and fix it...Its a pain in the ass to fix but its better to tighten your motor or readjust the mount than have eveything get cooked...

...I now run the 12t AON 4900 pushed right up close, almost NO GAP, and it doesnt miss a beat, doesnt get noticebaly hot, well it gets warm but nowhere NEAR the 130 degress celsius of my Xspeed...My halfeight is a happy machine again...Although it WOULD be nice to have a LITTLE more topend on the long pavement runs...

I ran mine on the race track this weekend. What can I say. The AON motor moved the car out like a pro. Great punch, great top end and just plain ballistic but very controlable. It was perfect for racing. Finally I can focus on suspension setup and the rest. After 6 to 10 minutes of constant running I pulled the car off and found the motor running hot on a 14 tooth pinion. Ill have to try that twelve.

...DOOD THE aon WAS built FOR THIS CAR :D You gotta love it...I am having a LITTLE trouble finding the BEST screw for it but thats more than human stoopidity than anything else...
