View Full Version : L.A.V. light armored vehicle(J.g.s.d.f.)inferno
I just purchased the half 8 L.A.V. light armored vehicle and this thing is awsome. The hard plastic body is super scale. Im going to gear it down to a 9 or 10 pinion gear and im going to lock the sealed diff front and back.. That way this puppy will trail through anything. It comes with oil shocks. Im also going to install deans micro plugs and im going to add 2 cells to the exzisting batt holder for a total of eight cells.I want to make it go as slow as possible but i want it to have alot of torque for rock trailing.
HEY!!Guys remember if your having problems with your stearing and your vehicle doesnt turn properly that it is most likely dirt on the left side stearing post. Many people seem to think that its a servo issue but In my case and I have 2 mini inferno's one reg mi and the L.a.v and after driving them in the dirt both vehicles had binding stearing problems. After removing the left stearing post and cleaning it my stearing returned to normal.Plastic is porus that is why the dirt is able to bind up the stearing post, I think using a metal stearing post will fix this issue, metal is non porus, so the dirt cant cling to its surface, I ordered my metal stearing assembly today so when i get it in ill post the results.
OO!!!!!! I forgot Big ups to Kyosho for making such a cool realistic vehicle like the L.A.V Im sure people that are into scale rc will love this vehicle.

I had that problem too with the steering that was binding,
What was wierd that i found was the actual C hub screw was binded up with dirt too,
It would not turn so well!
Also make sure you tighten shock caps (blue metal) otherwise oil may be leaking. It does on my LAV, that i was running straight out of the box.

Man this car is sexy. I wanna put my brushless in it and run it it would be so funny to see a tank going 80km/h down the road hehe :D

Good observation my friend, I have to clean my stearing post every 3 days or so depending on how much dirt i drive it in.I have the metal stearing set up on its way. This metal stearing setup is by r racing. Only cost me like $10 each from dinball. I bought 2 , one for the buggy and one for the Lav. I feel bad for all those people who thought that it was a servo problem because most of them bought new radio systems, money not well spent in my opinion.I am more than satisfied with the stock system now that i have this stearing issue solved.

Yup i had the same problem with my shocks but i have it all taken care of . The lav is awsome, its super scale.

Yup i....... i..........guess it is.......ssssssssssss......se....sexxxxxy......lol lol lol , i didnt know that that was a term used on rc vehicles lol lol but what ever make your boat float. That hard body is too pretty or (sexxy) lol to be crusin at 80km/h. O what damage will be done when you wreck!!!Im locking my diff with silicon ,front and back and dropping in a 10t pinion and adding 2 enigizer 2500mah batt to the exzisting 6 cell batt holder. This is going to be my mini trailer/ rock and gravel crawler.I want it as slow as possible im also sticking with the stock motor. I have already installed rubber sealed bearings on the wheels to reduce friction. im in florida so all there is is sand to trail on , that is another reason why im droping a 10t pinion in it , to make up for the added stress on the motor. This truck is in the lab as we speak.

Lol i guess ;)
Yeh if you want it as slow as possible you could get a 540 size 27 turn stock motor, that will be a beast with a torque, but still go the same speed. Lock the center diff as well, because it transfers too much power to the rear or front.
Hey that is a good idea! I didnt think of locking the center diff, thanks for the idea.
I really wish integy would make a micro 55t motor for micro crawlers, i havent seen any after market companies making one yet. If they do they could start another class of rc, which would be awsome. Does any one have a micro motor designed for torque? If so let me know, that would be awsome a 380's 55t motor with bearings.

Ok! I figured out what to do for having a trail/ crawler motor for the L.A.V. th answer is the mamba 4200kv motor .Why you may ask? Well it has bearings, tons of torque, and i already have the 6800kv motor for my mini t. so all i will do is buy the 4200kv motor and swap the esc when i want to trail with it. SHAZAMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ultimate trailer set up.

half 8 l.a.v's rule. 1 of the best hop ups is the 8 cell battery convert even though you will have 2 get the charger seprotly
if you want more of a trail speed drop a kyosho 10t pinnion, more crawling power.Im going to cut out the windows and add a military driver figure. Awsome.Ill be replacing the blackout windows with clear lexan.

Yes this is true but with this hard body I think slower is better. But to each his own :)

I think you should get the Mini T conversion kit. It tells you how to make your Mini T into a Halo Warthog. Even if only for the gunner on top...it would look awesome ! It's on the Toyz Mini T section one of the first items.
And if you want a Mamba 4200, I'm selling my car with one in it :P

Check it out!!!! just installed the new gpm alloy servo assembly into my L.A.V, and I also upgraded to a hitech hs-65mg servo, direct fit but I did have to shave a little plastic off of the servo stay so that the servo would have full articulatation. Im looking to buy a sealed diff and lock it up with cilicon.I must admit that with the alloy stearing assembly and the metal gear servo the stearing is much better, it actually turns a very tight circle.I love this scale little A.T.V. Also using a 12t pinion, soon i'm dropping the old 10t in there, its still 2 fast for what i want to use it for.
Whats up dudes? I just drove my L.a.v. for 1 hour streight using 2500mah batt . This thing is awsome . Here's a recomendation for shocks if you want the best ground clearence.Im using 3 racing alloy silver shocks. They only cost like $22.00 and they are adjustable.Im in florida so all there is is sand to drive on ,but with the 12t pinion torgue is awsome. I need to find a sealed diff .
Check it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The one and only!!!!......... L.A.V in action.
This is truly a scale truck. Im in Florida that is why you see sand. The L.a.v does well considering that it doesnt have a locked diff yet.
I think i want to buy another one of these soon.
Pics were taken with my Treo 650 cell phone , sorry i dont have a real digital camera for better clairity.
Lot's of torque with a 12t pinion,still droping a 10t, also getting 1 hour drive trail time.
Here are a few camoflauge pis for ya.
Hey gentlemen I locked the diff up on the L.a.v .. This little truck will trail through anything now. It has made a big difference in crawling over rough terrain. All you have to do is take out the diff and use automotive cilicone to put on the 3 little diff gears (both sides of the diff) and then sandwitch the outdrives back on and let it set for 24 hours and bammm you have a locked differential. I locked both the front and the back. I personally like the slipper clutch, it keeps the gears from getting dammaged. This is now my favorite mini rc .
