This is a "Work In Progress" conversion.

I am by no means done with this project. There is still much to do. Just wanted to post a few pics in case some of you might be wondering what this new 09 might look like as an ST.

As always... comments and suggestions are welcome. :)

CarAction had an artical on what you will need to do the conversion and a review in their last issue. you might could pick one up if you run into any problems. i do remeber them saying that there was not a problem with the gear ratio and the truck performed well. Good luck!

I also saw a tip that might help some. They said to make a longer fuel line from the tank to the engine incase the trucks flips. it will give you a chance to flip it over before the truck shuts off.

Well this is my second ST conversion so I pretty much already knew which parts I needed and actually already had a few of them before I got the 09. I did however buy that January issue of Car Action that you mentioned just to read what they had to say about their conversion. I was already thinking about possibly turning the 09 into an ST before I bought the magazine though. I think I read somewhere recently that Kyosho plans to release the 09 as an ST eventually as well. Basically the same thing they did with the electric buggy version.... the ST was released a little later.

LOL.... I read that too and that's one of the other things on my "To Do" list.... Longer fuel line with a fuel filter also.

Thanks for the info wartown...!!!

Not true Mike. I'm liking that thing enough to consider one for myself. Just wondering if I should wait for Kyosho to come out with the ST or grab that Jammin CRT Mini when its released in a couple of weeks. Wish I was RICH!

I was wondering when you were going to chime in...!!! It'll look better when it's done with a body and a few other things. I'm also lookin to get the Jammin CRT .5 myself since I have the 8th scale version already. That mini CRT is using a .12 motor... lots of options there. It'll have to be sometime after the holidays though. Or maybe Santa will bring me one for Christmas... if they even come out before then.

:D

...mini CRT? thats a new one on me...

...FYI when i spoke with Jiro Hogashino (sorry for the name drop  ) he said that there were no plans for an ST version out of the box...That MAY have changed since then but no word yet at this end...i would say go ahead with a 'Mig-version' and you will probabaly be ahead of what Kyosho decides to churn out, then it would just be a matter of updating the 'smaller' adjustments they may have added...

'Mig-version'... that's funny...!!!

On another note.... here's some pics of my new Jammin CRT .5 !!!

LMAO... I WISH...!!! They're not even out yet

.12 engine - rear exhaust, tuned exhaust pipe
oil filled shocks
4 wheel drive
3mm chassis
captured hinge pins - no e-clips
front/rear disc breaks
front/center/rear diffs
all steel drive line
lay down steering servo
uses 2.2 B2, B3 buggy wheels and tires

...Looks like a nice vehicle...I would like to do a conversion on it...unfortunately my super-cool, turf-ripping BL Hellfire takes up most of the work bench ;) I doubt we would see it here anyway...I would have to import the ARTR...

...Mig-Version is a good one...One of my favourites...

only thing i dont like about the crt is its just as big as a 10th scale not fun for me. i like the small things lol

BitHed
12-09-2006, 02:51 AM
...so we should call you SmallRob from now on? :D

...without jacking the thread it LOOKS smaller because its next to a 1:8 that looks like a 1:10...if that were true it really WOULD be mini but it can hardly be counted as a 'real' mini at 1:10 or 1:12 scale...If it was closer to the 09 it would be pretty cool...

...Speaking of 09's...The Mig-Version ST looks great...'almost' inspires me to get one

Hey Migs,

Here is my conversion. I'm just waiting for some one to make a full truck body, until then I'll run the buggy body on it.

Too wide...? Do you prefer the stock Kyosho ST wheels/tires...?

just dont like the low pro look. the foam would aid in bumpy handeling. but yah i like the stock look better

Thanks for the comments and feedback.. much appreciated.

I have to admit, these tires are a little low profile for my taste. I just don't like the stock ST wheels. I may get some of the 3Racing dish wheels and tires to try out later.

I was just thinking... considering Pro-Line has never come out with a body for the ST... I doubt they'll make any wheels or tires for it. I hope they prove me wrong...!!!

Thx, for the info. Is the ST body one piece or three? This will be the last thing for my conversion.

Also, thanks for the great site...!

Kind regards

Migs,

Have you thought about going w/the ST diff cases? They are sealed so you could run diff fluid. Did you change the center diff fluid? If yes, what are you running?

As far as I know, the 09 has sealed diff cases as well with metal gears inside. At this point, I have no reason to switch to the ST diffs. But I do run diff fluid in the diifs of my electric ST.

Migs,

The F/R diffs on my 09 are not sealed, the gears are metal with some grease. I may up pick some ST cases this weekend. What wt would you run?

I run 3,000 front 5,000 mid 1,000 rear in my Muggy.
