the car is pulling to the side because of the horizontal "twist" the motors first kick in to acceleration puts on the chassis, theres not much you can do about this except for buy a belt-driven r/c car...
you could also check for chassis tweak tho, make sure the entire underside of the chassis sites perfectly flat left to right, and forward to back
as for the power unloading to the front wheels, you could always lock the center differential, or pick up some ST sealed diiffs, and put some heavy silicone fluid in them to slow down the diff action
^Don't listen to this dude. You can just tweak the steering settings on the TX. It is the trim setting closest to the wheel.
And DO NOT lock your center diff!!! What ever you do!!! How are you able to confirm that a majority of the power is going to the front?

tweaking the steering setting will not work. It will only have your car pull to one side after you finish the intial accelration. Also there is nothing wrong with locking the center diff if you want the power to be the same for front and back. Listen to Adrenaline he got it right the first time.
"there is nothing wrong with locking the center diff"
Sure, if you want the driveline destroyed.
BTW- What motor do you have? If you're running stock, then, again, don't listen to these guys.

I have two MI and i have had one of the center diffs locked now for awhile running brushless.
Anyway....Adrenalinerush and I have both been running MI for over a year and a half now. H8r is a newbie. You can choose who to take advice from. Enough said

yep you are correct, i did adjust it on my radio but then as soon as i let off it would swerve in the opposit direction. So this is normal for these cars to do this?
I am not a noob at rc, just a mini inferno/ electric noob. I always had nitro but they arnt running truggy indoors this year localy so i got the half 8 to keep cordination up during the winter.
as far as knowing the power is going up front, i was driving on my street and the spikes on the front tires wore out instantly but the rears still look new. and you can just feal the way it drives the rear tires are not getting much power.
lastly what is required to make it compeitve, right now it has mamba 6800, hitec 81 mg(i think), oil/aluminum shocks, and im putting a aluminum front shocktower and steering knuckels

I am sure you have added bearings through out. I actually have one of my MI's set up much like yours. I do have alloy cvd's, titanium turnbuckles, alloy chassis stiffener, drive shafts, torgue rods, and alloy steering rack. I guess i might have added more than i thought but you get the picture. i also moved the steering servo more inline with the steering rack. I had to reposition the front torgue rod to do this but get much better steering. I prefer running 1/10 trucks and buggies but this little thing is fun to tinker with. There are plenty of threads that can help but as always there is bad info out there.
yep it does hve bearings on it. I dont know much about it because i am the 3rd owner (atleast) and the person who i bought it from didn't know much because he got it in a trade and the guy told him it a mini inferno with a mamba in it and thats it.
doy you guys think it was a good deal: inferno with mamba 6800, ball bearings, 3R oil shocks, hitec 81mg, 8 cell gp 1100, stock body and a extra clear CP?

...yup she starts to run good when you get her a bit stiffer :D
...To lock or not to lock...My best advice would be to try it and see :D It might be good for you it might not...Hows that for sitting on the fence :D

davo-
What you're experiencing is torque steer. Since the motor is placed "longways" or perpendicular to the axles in a Half8 (or any other car that has a similar layout), the instant torque when you first give it throttle tries to rotate the motor that way. The same thing would happen if you just put a motor on a table and revved it - it would spin to that direction at first because of the torque. Because this happens, all that torque turns into force that turns the vehicle to that direction.
For instance, take the RC18T - its motor spins inwards towards the driveshaft ... or to the LEFT. Even if you have the steering perfectly trimmed out, when you give it full throttle, it will veer to the left.
On the other hand, take the Mini-T - its motor is placed transverse, or parallel to the axles. Since the force is now going either forward or backward, it will not torque steer.
There is no real way to cure this torque steer, so that is a slight setback. Adrenalinrush is partly right about the belt drive cars - they are significantly less susceptible to torque steering because they are most always transverse-motor setup, and the belt also eliminates some of the torque steer.
As for locking the center differential, it's really personal preference; it works in some setups and doesn't in others. Preferably, I like having the center locked - it gives me a feeling that my buggy is grabbing with all fours.
Hope this information helped, and have fun with your Half8!
