I recently got my hands on the Mini Inferno (my 1st r/c). All parts are still stocks and i'm running on 6x AA Nimh 2500. All the time I am playing I realized that the reverse speed seems to be at faster speed than the forward speed? Could anyone explain why this is? Thanx
This is a classic RC newbie mistake (no offense at all). First, reset the ESC. If that doesn't work, then switch the motor wires. I can't help you beyond that.

Thnx H8er.
But what's ESC? Switch the motor wires is just simply switching it by connecting the red with the black wire and vice versa, right? I need to be sure, I would hate it if somthing burn the electonics.
Actually, I have no idea what resetting the ESC is :) I have heard it many times though. I have never needed to do it, hence, I have never done the work to find out how to do it. Anyway, yes, you're safe swapping the wires around. Let me know how it works.

I think i got the idea what an ESC is. (electronic Speed Control) but how do you reset it? Anybody who could help me how to reset an ESC (stocks on mini inferno)
Actually, I don't think the stock KMI ESC has the ability to reset. I just got my first KMI a couple days ago, and it did seem to go faster in reverse, but it sure is faster in forward. Have you modded your KMI at all? Also, did you match the red motor wire to the red plug, and black to black? Hope this helps!

Yeah, I know ddat now dat the stock ESC doesnt have reset. My MiniInferno are still stocks (no mod). Wires. all are in their correct place.
I tried running it on 8xAA's NiMH.. It seems a bit faster but not much different. Maybe I'll try using the xspeed motor with the stock ESC. Hopefully it will show noticeable speed increase.
*Using 2500 NiMH only.

Maybe it isn't actually faster in reverse. Most of the weight is near the back end of the car because of the stock placement of the batteries. Because of this the car lauches a little quicker off the line in reverse. Maybe this is what your noticing?

its common for micros to go faster in reverse than foward because the motors are actually elec aircraft motors, which are designed to spin in the opposite direction of rc car gear boxes. They have a slight timing difference to promote more power in reverse rotation, which is the normal rotation for a prop gear box. There are ways to change timing on the motors to get that speed in the proper direction but its not worth it on the stock motor.

I think I'll flip my motor to the rear then.. Thanks moose, i'll try that.
