Ok, I've done some reading, but I don't think I totally understand this...

Futaba has single conversion and dual conversion crystals. I understand that the dual conversion crystals have a narrower bandwidth (or something to that effect... more resistant to interference) but I can't find anything to say when they can and can't be used. Can anyone clear this up a bit for me?

dual conversion is basically sending checking the signal two times before confirming its correct. Makes for better reception

So if I use dual conversion crystals in my 3pk and PPM/PCM/HRS receiver, will there be a benefit? Or does the radio equipment have to be specially designed to take advantage of it?

the rx has to be dual conversion in order to use the crystals. Not worth it IMO. I have a dual conversion rx and it has about the same reception as my novak xxl. And dual conversion crystals are not Cheap. they are double to tripple the normal cost of a standard am/fm crystal.
