I started showing a little interest in my ST latelly. need a good racing soft off road tire and wheel set better than stock.
I tried the proline buggy ones but that screw up the handling cause they are so much smaller.

As far as I know, there are no other aftermarket wheels or tires for the Mini Inferno ST - only the 3Racing ones, which are not out yet. The 3Racing wheel/tire set can be found here: http://www.3racing.com.hk/x_descriptions.jsp?x_products_key=1802 .

It looks to me that all ST owners might have a couple more choices in the wheel/tire department soon. I found two new wheel/tire combos on RCmart a couple days ago, and figured I'd post it here. Judging by the part numbers, it seems to me that one wheel/tire combo will have a black rim, and one will have a white rim. The tires should be the pin-type as shown on the 3Racing site.

Just a heads up. Have fun!

Have you raced the ST with the stock tires? The reason I ask is we have been racing a truck class for a few months now and it's almost all ST's, and the stock tries are working very well. We were racing on packed topsoil which would develop a light layer of loose soil the more it's run on and was never swept during a race, but was repacked and waterted between race days. We recently retopped the track with some very fine red clay with a tiny bit of sand and it's turning into a very nice blue groove track with the usual dusting outside the line. So far the stock ST tires have been doing well on both surfaces.
On a side note regards tires. I ran a set of crimefighters on my buggy last friday night and on the hard packed red clay they can't seem to find any grip in the turns. I tried several suspension changes and improverd the situation some, but I could never get them to grip like the stock tires do.

fhm101- thats funny you cant find traction in the turns with the cf tires. we have a track here we run the cars on that is made of the red clay you are describing and i have globbs of traction everywhere.

It's got to be the tires. I know it can't have anything to do with my driving. :D

whats your set up?
stock tires kill the cf's on claypacked surfaces because they are so soft. but the wraith wears them out very quickly. wish they made a m3 cf for the mini.

the reason the cf's seem soo stiff is the insert is very firm. the rubber coumpound on them are nice and soft on mine.

PT-mounted stock location
The front brace is now a turnbuckle from the steering plate to the center diff
Changes I made from the setup I was running with stock tires was to reduce front and rear camber and lower the rear ride height.
With stock tires I could carry way more corner speed and even accelerate hard in the sweepers and still had total control over when I wanted to step out the rear by simply steering in a bit as I accelerated. CF's with the same setup would slide the rear if I did anything much but coast through the corners. Reducing f/r camber to give the tires more bite helped some, as did putting a bit more weight on the rear wheels, but it still wanted to step out in the rear if I gave it any more than a very slow roll on in the corners. I'm thinking the stiffer foams and less sidewall roll have a lot to do with it because forward traction was so close between the two tires I couldn't tell any difference.
I'm thinking about maybe grinding the CF's down an RCH to see if that might help them grip a bit better.
Any ideas??

Have you tried adding holes to the inside of the wheel so the tires "give" more when you hit the gas?

The wheels have 2 holes in them out of the package and I always punch a hole in the tire to let water out after cleaning, so there's plenty of places for air to exit the tire.

Well, since tires are 90% of setup then maybe the stock ones just suit your track better and thats what you should stay with. I've never tried the stock ones but I hear good things about them. Maybe I'll give them a shot. There are also some Micro X tires available from Kyosho and I wonder if they might suit your needs better.

I suspect that to be the case, but I had the CF's so I wanted to give them an honest try and will run them some more to see if htey might improve as they wear. As for the kyosho tires, they make some of the finest tires going for 8th buggy but they are so expensive, only the team guys run them.
Based on my experience with the stock tires, I'd really like to give the Kyosho microblock pattern a try. I asked the LHS to get me a set so maybe I'll find out soon.
