I have just broken the thin steering swipper post although it doesn't look like it snapped as there is no part stuck in the base and the bottom of the shaft is almost completely smooth, it is as if it has become "un-glued" or unwelded ;-)
Is this something I can repair of do I need a new part - I suspect I need a new part. Just wanted to run it by you guys first.

can either of you show a picture or at least give a part number for which part you're referring to? Do you mean the post that the steering saver slides onto?

Yes, it is the narrower of the two posts that the steering servo saver slides onto, the one without the screw into it.
I assume it is broken because the long post came free of it's cup - the thicker part, that is screwed into through the chassis. It would not fit back together.
Maybe this is what it is supposed to do?
