okay iam new to this do i need the regulator if i use 9.6 battery with stock esc/rec or will all my electronics be fine.i have not seen a straight answer yet?thanks for any input.also does anybody sell the regulator separatley.

Nope, no regulator needed. The ESC is meant to run off 9.6 volts.

thanks for the reply i am running the 7.2 volt pack and my steering sucks do you think this is because i don't have the proper voltage going to my servo.let me know what you think.

well, the servo isnt fast to begin with, but I can see that contributing to it to.

i called kyosho today and they said no on the battery protector it is for kids who dont know when to stop running the battery down.thanks guys

yepper, its a BATTERY protection unit, not ESC protection unit.

It may be a fluke, but 2 different ST's running 9.4v packs at my local track have been experiencing intermittent shutdowns. I'm almost positive it's from overheating since they shut down, cool off, run a while, and shut down again. One of them ditched the dust cover and it gave him more time uninterrupted run time, but didn't solve the issue altogether. Both are running stock trucks with packs made from ordinary IB1200 cells, no zapping or matching involved, although they do allow for some very long run times.

yep, sounds like heat....but whats that have to do with the battery protector?

thanks for all the replys any info helps.i have a united rc pack 9.6 1400 race pack on its way.cant wait to try.motor is stock so i will get to see the difference between 7.2&9.6 volts.thanks barndog

9.6 will be quite an improvement, hope you enjoy. I need to get my 8 back together as shes been sitting in a bag for some time now
