Hey guys i am keen to get a Mamba 25 ESC, but what i am wondering is should i get one of these packages?

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LC3369&P=1

Or should i just get the Align 430L 4050kv motor???

Which motor do you think is better (heat issues, torque, speed etc)?

Keeping in mind i will need a fair bit of torque for driftin purposes...

Thanx for the help!!!

I have run both my Mamba 8000KV and my Align 430L 4050 on the mamba esc. The 8000KV gets very hot and I think it not suitable for the MI since it is made for 1/18 (it is a 180size motor) and the esc will burn out after some time because it will draw too much amps. Therefor the Align has a larger can and will provide more torque and less amps. Although it has less rpm's than a 8000kv it is possible to to use a larger pinion ( I run a 19t standard pinion for 1/10th). It also runs cooler and the cooler the motor it better performs and the longer the life.
Only one problem: mamba settings (http://www.halfeight.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1990) :(

Align or AON 4900 or Hyperion or Brushed > mamba motor :)

the 8000kv mamba is too much for the MI the better choice is the 5400kv.
I have run one with a 5400kv and a heatsink with no issues and it was fast.
Right now I have the align in the MI and it is working just as good with no heatsink. The only thing using an outrunner in a offroad vehicle. The motor does not like shock or rapid direction changing.....the endbells on the motor can move or even come off the motor can.......I suggest you ca the endbells to the can or possibly fix the can with a screws.
What type of batteries are you using? How are you charging them? What kind of connectors? The mamba/align needs a lot of available power to run fast......Im not home this week or i would be able to tell you what settings im running on my mamba 25.

hey guys i just bought 2 sets of these...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120000030602&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

They will have deans ultra connectors on them once i get them... Can anyone tell me a good peak charger to use with them?

Also will the Align 430L 4050Kv motor go good with those batts? What ESC should i use with the Align? The mamba and Quark are a little outta my price range at the moment... I may just have to what and save...

Let me know what u think...

Thanx

It depends on your wallet what kind of charger you can buy.
Duratrax has some affordable good chargers in their line, but I prefer the Ice or the Orion Advantage. These are more expensive but I also race 1/10th and therefor they are the top of the bill!

ok guys i have just got a Quark 33a ESC nice and cheap :D now my next decision is what motor to get.... I'm debating between 2 diff Align motors....

The Align 430L 4050Kv motor...
http://www.wattsuprc.com.au/product_detail.asp?pid=KX850136A

The Align 430L 3550Kv motor WITH FIXED ENDS!!!...
http://www.wattsuprc.com.au/product_detail.asp?pid=KX850144A

The ends are now threaded on the 3550 to stop them coming off... I want lots and lots of torque for drifting and also a fair bit of speed as we drift on a 1/10th curcuit... So let me know which would be better??? Is there much diff between the 2 on torque and top speed??? Let me know what you think...

Thanx guys...

The Align 430L 3550Kv motor WITH FIXED ENDS!!!

The ends are not fixed like you think. In the description it says the ends are threaded (motor mounting)
I have the 4050 and I like it.

oh ok.... so is there much difference between the 2 motors? i'm leaning towards the 4050.....

actually it says motor covers use thread to fix....doesn't sound like motor mounting uses threads to fix. Still not sure what it means but lower kv motor does not have the big "WARNING, glue your crap together cuz its gonna fall apart" message in the middle of the screen.

so has anybody used both motors??? Is there much difference between the 2??? Which would have more torque???

Thanx guys...
