Hello!
I'd like to change original receiver to change servo and ESC... but I'd like to keep my original trasmitter: do you know which receiver could I use? Is it an AM transmitter? Frequency?
thanks

The stock Kyosho Mini-Inferno Half8 transmitter is AM. In the US, the legal AM "crystal" frequencies are listed on a chart (#1 26.995 - #6 27.255) at the following link as well as other international frequencies.

http://www.rctek.com/radio/rc_model_car_radio_frequencies.html

Japan also uses a few more AM crystal frequency bands than the US and if the Half8 is shipped anything like the Mini-Zs, the crystals may either have red or black numbers. The Japanese 12 equals a US 6, 08 would be a US 4, and so on though there are also the Japanese prime numbered crystals, i.e. 03, 05, etc. Quite frankly, I didn't even bother to check my Mini-Inferno's crystals since I ripped out the stock electronics soon after the Mini-Inferno's arrival. One of the resident member sellers could probably provide more information regarding the shipping options and available AM crystal frequency bands.

In my opinion, if you are going to change the receiver, speed control, and servo, you might as well change out the transmitter and go FM (both transmitter and receiver). However, I am not in Italy and it is my understanding that many Europeans prefer stick radios. Myself, I used a JR synthesized FM receiver in the Mini-Inferno which allows me to use numerous frequency channels without the purchase of any crystals. Over all, I like my Futaba T3PK better than the JR I'm using with the Mini-Inferno, but I wanted to use a fully synthesized set up to avoid crystal issues at the local track. Of course, some receivers are a lot more expensive than others and around here, the FM crystals appear to be more expensive than AM crystals too.

Hello!
Thanks for your reply... I loved stick transmitter but since I tried wheel ones I use them :) So what I need to use the original transmitter is an AM 27MHz receiver... good to know as I've one of them :)
And when I'll have some money I'll change it to FM system.
bye

Hi guys, sorry to dredge up an old post, but after searching the forum this was the closest I could find to answering my question.

My H8 will arrive in the next few days, and apart from a bunch of Hopups, I also have a Brushless setup arriving.

Can you use something like the Novak XXL Receiver with the original Kyosho Transmitter? It it simply a matter of buying a 27mhz AM Receiver and away you go or are there other factors to complicate the issue, like incompatibilities?

Ultimately I will probably buy a full FM set (JR XS3 or similar), but until then can I just buy a receiver? I get the impression from above that I can, I just wanted to make sure. Also, do you used the original crystal, or a crystal from the manufcturer of the new RX?

Out of curiousity, are all H8 radios, out of the box, 27Mhz AM or does it depend on region?

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

The Novak XXL 27mhz AM reciever works just great for me! Just keep the mamba ESC away from the reciever or you can have interference problems.

When you get the money dont waste it on an FM.. get a DSM.. best money I've ever spent.
