heres my new fan setup that i fabbed up...i used a novak 25x25x10 micro fan, fabbed a nice mount, and it keeps the hype6k nice and cool..i just tested it yesterday...and man, what a improvment! this little fan really puts out some serious air, i also soldered a plug on the wires and plugged it right into the batt. port on the reciver...so it turns on when you turn the esc on.

gazzer - if you are getting a hyperion - you will most definately need a fan and a couple of heatsinks to go along with it.

It is most definately a fast motor - but it does run hot.

old skool - nice job. I mounted my fan on top of the heatsinks using some small standoffs so it sat up off the heatsinks just a bit. My fan was too small to do the job. Yours looks a little bigger than mine.

I ordered 2 heatsinks and I will cut some holes in the front windshield to help airflow but I think the motor will still run hot. Hopefully a fan will cool things down a bit so I can perhaps run a larger pinion. Once I get everything hooked up i'll have to see what happens from there.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Micro-Cooling-Fan-ESC-Novak-Tekin-LRP-Futaba-JR-cell_W0QQitemZ6049983507QQcategoryZ1200QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem this is the fan i use to keep my mamba 5400 cool. it flows twice as much air as a novak fan thats a little bigger. i love this thing. the guy advertising it is right, ive had the fan get sticks and leaves and other crap jam it but as soon as you take them out bam! its back to work. ive tested mine to 12v and all i can say is this little fan kicks ass!!

is the 3r fan thats coming out for the ST good enough for cooling a motor? I know it's just a drawing, but it gives a good idea of the dimensions and fan size in relation to the motor mount.

...it will be the same fan they use on their 540 mounts...It will work fine...We use them on the EZILLA 550's too and they are great ;) you could even use a straddle wire, run if from your RX and have one fan on the motor and another on your BL ESC ;)

The straddle wire sounds like a good idea.

Bit :D whats the status on the alloy slipper gears and caw hubs? I'm looking to buy right away and if you can slip a chassis in there leave me a message. Thanks!
