There are some pics of my pack here in the gallery. Not in mine because I never managed to load up pics and haven't got any help from the admin  Nevertheless, there are three batteries each side touching ground with a fourth batt saddling. Fixing is a problem, but it runs well, fast and for a long time. Nobody believed me here, but try it out. It works very well!

Here's a couple of pics of the 2/3AA pack I made using 650 KAN cells. One in the car and the other showing it next to a 9.4v pack of ib1200 cells. Sorry about the dust, but I haven't had time to clean up since I ran sunday. The weight difference is 49 grams with the same voltage. I only get about 8 minutes of run time from the 650 cells versus right at 20 with the 1200's, but all I need is 5 minutes without dumping. Please ignore the temporary "shimming", now that I know they work I'll do a better job.

here's 7 AA's. there's room for 1 more if you really wanted 8.

What kind of ESC are you running with 7 cells?

I was running a Novak Explorer Sport, it was rated for 6-7 cells. I'm now using a mc230cr with 7 2/3A cells.

Cell count was the main reason I decided to try a brushless system. I wanted to run a brushed motor on 8 cells, but the only small, forward only ESC's I could find rated for 8 cells were in the $150 range. Not that $150 was a deal breaker, but coupled with the limited choices in brushed motors I didn't want to spend the money for an ESC and then not be able to find a motor I liked.

I run an Airtronics BL-Racer (rated 6-7 cells) in my MIST with an 8 cell 2/3 AA pack with no problems.
