Dear brothers,

Is this servo direct fit to Half-8 (Not ST) original servo holder?

As I tried all other Futaba digital servos, they are just too big for the stock servo holder...

Thanks.

One of the stock alternate servo mounts is for this servo. sits like the stocker.
I didn't like the linkage so used my own mounts and made new likage arrangement.

Thanks bro!!! I installed the S9650 servo. As you mentioned, it fits very well!

Despite the price is double of my good old Hitec 85MG, it is digital in nature with faster response and stronger torque! A highly recommended servo for H8!

Here is the spec at 6v:

Servo-----Design----Speed-----Torque----Weight----Gears
85MG-----Analog----0.14s-----3.5kg/cm-----22g-----Metal
S9650-----Digital----0.11s-----4.5kg/cm-----26g-----Metal

One thing I am not so sure is that if S9650 is bearing or not. I know 85MG is bearing inside.

...I think the 9650 is bearinged...It is a DAMN nice servo...Even BETTER when matched to the FUTABA High Response system through the RX ;) IMO there IS NO better 'brain' for this car...

I already have a HRS Rx but is used on my Yokomo Drift Package.

Yes, the HRS system is great! But using that on a buggy is really not feasible. As for buggy or truggy, I think torque is most important. But then, of course, faster response is always better. :D

i got a hitec HS-5245MG servo , did i go wrong ? i have the st

waight 32 g

are the number in the above post at 6v ?

Torque 4.8/6.0v : 61 / 76 oz. 4.4 / 5.5 kg.
Speed 4.8/6.0v : 0.15 / 0.12 second

No wrong. Good torque and good speed. But the size of your servo doesn't seem to be a direct fit to any one of those three H8 original servo holders. Maybe modification is needed?

ya it was a direct fit . sliped right in with 1 of the stock mounts and servo head . no probs at all . but it take up most of that front side

Since I have gotten into helicopters, I have come to find that the Trex size electrics use micro servos. I use Hitec HS56HBs for the cyclic. The rudder servo of choice for the hardcore 3d helis is, tada, Futaba S9650. That is probably why they are somewhat hard to find. The heli lhs I was in had a stack of them. I picked one up for my X400. When I came back a couple of days later, there was only one left.

Upgrade manufactures make tailboom mounts especially for the S9650 as the micro servos mostly use single mount hole.
The hot setup is a Futaba GY401 gyro in digital mode with the S9650. Many consider it a must for a competition 3d Trex.
