We are testing the mini inferno with battery packs of 9,6v., with the original ESC, and with others electronic ESC (LRP Quantum, Nosram Misile, etc.) At the moment we have no problem, but I think that we are overcharging the electronic ESC (factories recomend maximum of 8,4v.)

The original mini inferno ESC can resist the 9,6v., but I think it is not recomended to use 9,6v. of battery power in other mini ESC. Have anybody test it?

Perhaps I think that best chance is using 8,4v., or 7 elements.

I can test the mini inferno promotional car in the Nurenberg toys fair, with 8,4v. and with the x-speed motor, and it have a great performance...

I am having a hard time to choose a good ESC for 9.6V.

So far, from Online store, most GM and Robitronic ESCs can take 9.6V. But since I haven't seen them in real life, I don't know if they are small enough to fit into Half-8 or not.

Only one model of LRP can accept 9.6v but I think that one is too big.

A couple other brands also take 9.6v.

If anyone found a good 9.6V ESC with forward/brake/reverse feature and small enough for H8, please inform us immediately. Many thanks! :D

My best bet is Robitronic ESC.

...Opium I am using the basic LRP AI ESC and its a little too big..its ok to 8.4 but it doesnt mind 9.6...If you go one cell over 'limit' you should be ok...batteries come off the charger 'hot' anyway and when some of the better cells are still fresh and new they could be putting out close to 1.4 volts anyway...

A great ESC that can handle 9.6v is the Futaba MC230CR. We have ran this ESC for over a year, and have put 8-cells through it...with no issues.

MC230CR? The one comes with the 2PL Tx set? But isn't it a bit too big for H8?

Also, sounds like most saying upto 8.4v ESC can handle 9.6V without much problem? If so, that could save me lots of $$$ :D

Is Robitronic MircoSpeed (Transparent Orange color, with reverse and brake feature) any good?
