Thanks for the vid! Would it be possible to have another vid outside where you can let the Mamba open up!!
I would love to see the top speed of the buggy with the Mamba installed.
Thanks,
Matt

do you own that hobby shop?
the track and flying inferno kind of look like they are in the way of those shelfs.....

anyways that vid is great! i do agree though...maybe you should take it too some of kind of very long carpet dragstrip and send it down that

i wonder if there are any altitude restrictions around here...a plane just flew right over my house and it was was low its was a beoing 757 i think..... so its a bit big too fly that low..i could read the writing on the side! it was under 500FT.....definately

it scared my horses....

how doeas the centerdriveline (plastic) holds up ??

I would love to do it outdoors (sounds obscene!!) right after I have saved up for the oil shockies.

The drive parts are fine with the power, however, the motor and esc are not. They get really hot. cannot touch the motor for more than a second.
I am using 5 cells now and ordering a fan unit for the Xray.

Motor drops in with no mods at all. Just have to shim the pinion with paper

hi Interference,

Its normal to get so hot?. I tell you this because there are lots of asso 1/18 with mambas and never seen fan units in.

Can you tell me which is this cool heatsink you have? :)

thanks

Jatetu,

The heat sink it meant for 20mm motors like the hacker or himax. the mamba is the same size. U can get it from aircraft world or any place that sells himax

I am not sure if its normal for it to get so hot, but i am sure at at this temo. the motor will demag pretty soon

So, I have the MMB25-CM2068 Competition Package - you're saying it just bolts in? Pinion, mounting holes are all okay? (haven't had a chance to tear mine down yet)

interference, can you give us more details on the installation process? :)

interference
04-10-2005, 07:39 PM
The car does not look quite as pristine anymore :)

Halfeight:

yes the motor bolts right in.. the supplied pinion is for a 2.3mm shaft. the mamba is a 2mm shaft. In a pinch, I used a piece of rolled up paper to make it a press fit. Check carefully for wobbles when u rotate it. I have since changed the pinion to a 12T one from my micro heli.

2 things to take note.

1. the slipper.. it was mentioned that its best to remove it to tighten it. DO THAT. my slipper melted the gears :(

roughen up the slipper pads and parts ask much as u dare. I used a diamond file.
Tighten the nut all the way and back out 1/2-1 turn

2. the input shaft to the rear gearbox.. check that. Mine was spinning freely. Its pretty hard to tighten it, but has to be done. I used a rag to jam the gears.

Lukeita.. Your welcome.

One more thing, get a heatsink. PLEASE..
20mm ones fit fine. THe microheli shops should have a selection to match your color scheme

The video link didn't work for me at first either, until I tried left-clicking it and found out that it actually brought me to a webpage that has the video links. You can try getting the movie file here:

http://advancehobby.kicks-ass.net/InfernoandMiniZ/Videos/

And note that there seems to be an mpeg version of the file as well!
