Hello guys, i recently bought a KMI and i replaced the stock motor with the CC package X. for Battery pack i have the IB 1200mah 8 cell. I run it for 2 min, it was very slow and then it stopped. The pinion gear was melted completly and the alloy slipper gear (32t). Everything was plastic and i figured out thats why all the gears were destroyed.
What alloy slipper and pinion gear shoul get?

Were you using the stock pinion? Bad idea. The 8000kv motor (comp x) doesn't have enough torque unless you use a 3 cell lipo, and it will overheat unless you have a cooling fan and heatsink on it. It is not recommended.

You need a 10-11 tooth 48 pitch pinion like the steel ones for the Micro RS4.

Ok, and where i can find the alloy slipper and what kind should i use? and i buy 10t pinion gear will it go fast? i ve heard that with the X package it might go up to 60 miles. is it true?

no. more like 45 or so with a 3 cell lipo and plenty of cooling.

The half-8 is too heavy for the 8000.

You don't want metal slipper gears. What you need is a 2mm 48 pitch gear. Many have used the ones from team associated, and there is another one, I forget. Search the forums because this has been covered 100 times.

You will need an 10 tooth pinion, and shim the motor mount so it actually meshes propperly. good luck man.

I use http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKHV9&P=7 and they have a decent selection of teeth.
Orion Micro Pro Metal pinion gears.
9t to 16t listed on Tower.

Fixed link. Thanks Pimpsmurf

Thanks guys :), But what is the proper engine for the buggy? a good and fast motor

Aon 4900 (thrust series), Hyperion 5000-6000 (I love my 6k!)

There are others... hacker makes one that is nice. the warp is ok.

Most people are happy with the Aon 4900, and the hyperion 5&6k just showed up kinda recently. I love it, but I don't have an aon, so I can't compare. Still waiting on that review. =)

Read Ronny's corner, and search the forums. Remember that some topics are older than 1 month old, so they get cut out of view unless you change your options.

Those engines u mentioned r more powerful than the 8000 CC? more torgue and top speed?

speed no, but torque yes!! the 8000 isnt reccomended for the H8. the hyperion 6000 will give you enough speed.

They hyperion might have a higher topspeed than the mamba 8000. It definately has more top speed than the 6800. I can only assume the 6800 doesn't have enough torque to push it to top speed.

Thanks again guys. i m waiting for the metal gears to come and then i ll try the 8000 and if i m not happy with it i ll try another .i dont want crazy top speed but torgue, accelaration, and if i m not satisfied with the 8000 will go to the garbage :(

well if your gonna throw it away send it to me!! :D but i think you will want to get the hyperion 6000. i have heard good things about it and the AON 4900 so either will be a good choice.

Higher Kv = more top speed less torque.
Lower Kv = more torque little less speed.

Half 8 needs torque

the diameter of the motor also matters. the mamba is 20mm i beleive which is 280 sized. the AON and Hyperion are 24mm(or is it 26??) which is 300 sized i think. im not shure on this..

i saw that the hyperion has a built in heatsink. will i need to replace it? can i ? or its good for that motor?and should i replace the stock (plastic) slipper gear for a metal one? oh , and what pinion gear for the hyperion? will the 8000 CC pinion fit in the hyperion(10t) ?
