I have a Half Eight (mini inferno) and was running the Mamba 6800 system. Well it gets way too hot for me. So i was looking at Bishops and seen the new Hyperion motor and it seems like a good motor. I was planning on getting the 6000 system. But i was just wonderin what everybody thought which is a better motor all around (playin and racin) without having the heat problems the Hyperion or Aon 4900 and what gearing to use.
Thanks Justin

well i have a 5400 motor i can trade you to see if you like it. i have a fan on my 5400 and it stays cool on 8 cells 11 tooth pinion and extreme timing. i am looking for more speed anyways so i would be willing to trade motor for motor. if you dont like it we will just trade back. my email is matt_newbern@yahoo.com email me if you are interested.

oh and everyone uses the AON and loves it but the hyperion looks promising also. the hyperion has 2 Kv levels. 5000 and 6000. the 5000 will be like the AON but a little more top speed and the 6000 will be alot faster but a little less torquey. this info is just from what i have heard so dont kill me if its wrong ;) .

I've got the hyperion 6000 powered by a three cell. It went really really fast and became my favourite rc (i've got a kanai and a savage among others) for a couple of minutes until the rear diff died. It seemed to have plenty or torque and a couple of times when it hit a bump the front wheels sat right up in the air for a moment. It was beautiful.
It wasn't as fast as my rc18t with a mamba 8000 and a three cell but it was still very fast and controlable. Not that far behind my kanai up the driveway.

No thanks Matt3833 Thanks for the offer though i think i am going to put it in my mini t. So the better of the two Motors is the Hyperion and aslo will the 3 racing heatsink fit around the Hyperion.
Thanks Justin

The Hyperion ( I have a 5000Kv) is approx. 24mm at the fins cast into the can. I have an integy 24mm heat sink on it and it works just fine. I kinda looked funny at first but once I put it on looks and works fine.

Hawk, don't you have an Aon also? How do they compare in the buggy?

I have Aon 2415-4900, Hacker 4200Kv, CC 8000kv, Tekin 6800Kv, Hyperion YC-22 5000Kv.
I also have (2) Mamba 25's, Sky&Tech. Quark 22A, Tekin Rage.
These are powered by URC X71 8.4v nimh, 2100mAh 3s1p 11.1v LiPo Thunderpower, (2) 730mAh 11.1v 3s1p that I setup up as a saddle pack (3s2p 1460mAh).
I have used this buggy to thrash different configurations, I have it setup up as a rear mount engine Eclipse chassis with CF upper deck (STiffy). I am about 95% complete to do trials with motors/esc's. I am wondering if the diffs will last? Anyway, I could give you a reasonable comparison yet, I plan on doing that and also getting the Y-22L. the 2.3mm motor shaft may cause problems with pinion availability though. So, it is still a matter of time, though soon.

I would dig on a 2.3mm shaft because I could use cheap and easy to replace composite pinions with both metal slipper gears. Very cool because no set screws (Satan's second invention), and composites aren't like brass (so you won't break your pinion puller after a few pulls.)

The only thing is I really dig the Hyperion 6000's top speed and torque on an 8 cell. It's perfect for me and my track.

So is this Hyperion turning out to be better than the Warp 4? Also is anyone having troubles with the mamba25 esc?

I have an Inferno ST and just purchased a Tekin ESC and AON 4900 motor... do I need a special motor mount for the AON motor? Will will the stock motor mount work? Do I need some kind of adapter?

It fits, but you want a 3racing motor mount.
