Guys, my Electrify Peak 400 permits me to choose a charge current of 500, 1200 or 2500 mAh. I know you're not supposed to go over the capacity of the cells in the battery pack. So would there be harm to my X42s 1100 mAh packs if I charged them at 1200 mAh?

i charge my gmax 1200 at 1.75 amps. so 1200mah on a 1100 should be fine

Hey Luciano,
your charge rate equates to this .5 amp 1.2 amp and 2.5 amps....gp1100 cells can take a 2 amp charge. At the 1.2 or 1200mah setting it will take about an hour to charge your packs. They will get warm. Remember the ideal temp for a charged packed is 130 degrees F. I hope this helps

So I can safely charge them at 1.2? Great! I don't mind waiting one hour for the recharge. :)

I charge mine at 1.7 And up to 1250.

your charger should determine when your pack has peaked....and it might only take 1100mah or it could take 1250 (even though your pack is rated at 1100mah).

For GP cells...charging at 2amps is pushing the "safe" limit. You will get better punch but less runtimes. If you charge at 1.5amps..you are safe, and will get slightly longer runtimes.

my matched gp1100 pack was rated for 4 amp charge and 15 discharge...it does not get hot charging that high but I keep it a 2.5-3 anyway. I only have the one pack and its still running strong!

Thanks guys! I thought it would be ok to charge at 1.2, but I wanted to be sure. I rather spend a bit more time charging and have the battery last longer ;).

In the cold winter air, I've charged my x42s packs at 2.5 amps without heat issues, although I'm certain it's not a good idea. If they don't catch on fire, and you aren't worried too much about life cycles, mission accomplished. 1.2a is perfectly fine with a peak charger. I can certainly see the 1.5a-2a difference in punch and runtimes. 2.5a charging takes 1-2 minutes it seems off my runtimes on the dirt track.

using a digital piranha peak charger to charge URC s42/x42. I hv set chrg rate at 1.2A and max charge at 1250mah. The charger detects peak automatically based on 3mv/cell setting and then goes into trickle charge mode.

What is the use/function of trickle charge ? Is it required to keep the batteries on trickle charge for some time to improve punch / runtimes ?

for nimh cells turn the trickle charge function off......they dont like to be trickled ;) nicads on the other hand do.

nimh cells can be trickle charged to peak........once it peaks then the charge stops....

the 3mv/c rating maybetoo low(sensitive) for 1.2 amps. Being low you may get a false peak. I set mine to 8mv/c and have awesome results using kan, cbp, urc, intellect, and GP cells.

Thanks ... yes do get false peaks when chargin AA nimh cells at 3mv/cell, this works fine when set at 8mv/cell. However so far the URC seems to be ok with 3mv/cell, the charge shows around 1200-1250mah at the end of the charge cycle.

However will give it a try with 8mv/cell and see if there is a difference.
