I am racing the H8 tomorrow on an indoor carpet track with jumps. I have the bearings installed, the X motor and oil filled shocks. Team Helotes sent me the 8 cell GP1100 pack today but I won't get it in time for the race. What are the best batteries I can currently use? Should I just get some rechargeable NiMh AA's? Thanks for the help.

I'd say get a matched pack for the mini-t and throw it in...or I like the orion rocket for a pre-made pack....7.2 volts..most LHS shoudl ahve this in stock for a temporary fix till the helitoes comes to your door

Radio Shack has 2000Mah AA's. I might try those. I have called a few of LHS and no one has 2500Mah AA's.
Thanks.

for best performance in a AA id try the rayovac IC3s...lots of mini z drivers swear by them

I got Rayovacs IC3 batteries in my Z and their awsome!! :D If i hadent ordered the 8 cell pack now i would defently have bought some AA IC3s! :)

Hey, I was just checking out the IC3's. Radioshack has them. One question though. You have to use the IC3 charger in order to get them to charge in 15 minutes. Does the IC3 charger just put out a higher amperage that the IC3 cells can handle? Or is there something really with the IC3 technology?
Thanks for the help.

I would run standard alkaline batteries. Why do you ask? Well the nimh and nicd run at 1.2 volts the alkalines run 1.5. Now the extra 1.8 volts should be rather good for acceleration. I would replace them every heat. Get the best ones you can get. 5 minutes should not be a real problem. Well at least it sounds good. I have been running Lipo's since it came out of the box. :D

Hi Mike,
That makes sense. WHERE CAN I GET LIPO's?!?!
Thanks,
Matt

RURC, just so you know, alkaline batteries ar the worst crap you can get for this thing!! You will trow the car away cause its so slow, almost did it with mine! :P So the extra youll pay for ni-mh/ni-cd is worth!

And the abaout the IC3s, youll need their charger, soure, it "just" puts out 15A to the batteries, but it allso checks the batteries to not be overheted, so its worth it!

...Chrille RURC uses lipos so he changes batteries like once a year :p

Hehehe...but alkaline are still scrap in this car! ;) Thinking if i should use li-pol or not then.....its a good idea but i thiknk it would be expensive with both new charger and batteries...so, lets see!

You're right... the main problem with LiPo is cost: you have to buy a new (and good one!) charger (some chargers which seem to do LiPo have problems...) and batteries are very expensive...

...and dont forget the EXCITING side-benefit of their possible EXPLODING !! :D

Sure! That was the main reason I suggested a very good (and tested) charger... some friends used a "bugged" (how a charger can have bugs??) charger and their $$$ lipo packs fried!

check www.batteryspace.com they sell lithiums and chargers cheap, you can even have pre-made packs built with chips in them that stop the current to and from the batteries to keep them from being overly charged or discharged, both of wich will ruin a lithium pack :D

I am going to try the IC3's in my H8 tomorow. I'll try write a review tomorrow too if i have time.

...I was thinking i might try 6x 2300 cells in TWO 'pyramid packs...I might try some of the new INTELLECT cells...

Quick battery update;
Ran through a set of 6 alkalines and they are HORRIBLE! :(
Just put in a set of 2000mah NiMh AA rechargeables and the car is MUCH faster. Next, I am going to try the new Energizer AA Lithiums (that is what the package says!)
I will let you know the results.

OK you win. It just seemed logical that the higher voltage should give a boost at take off. Me bad. I haven't run NiCad or NiMH in so long I forgot about the lack of balls that the alcalines have. Just for fun I stuck set og GB 2200 AA in one and a set of alka's in another and the GB's re much quicker. More current available from the GB's. Now I have run the H8 with both and I will resume the use of LiPo's. :D
