...its a LOT of stuff when you list it up like that...I will keep adding to this thread and keep a running score of how the machine is going...

...I love this job...MOST of MY information has come from somehwre else...I am on here so much I have pretty much read everything...Hoss said that the other day too...I am falsely recognized as knowing what i am talking about...A legend in my own lunchbox...And it hasnt even been a year yet...I am just proud of keeping the H8 in the eyes of the people...This platform is JUST getting started ;)

...ive been a busy boy...A couple of outstanding revelations mean that I am down to 715 grams RTR'N'R (ready to rock n roll) sans batteries WITH body and clips...I am SO close to going under the elusive 700 mark i can almost taste it...I realise though this WILL happen when i switch back to stock rims and axles over the weekend...

...SAD SAD EDIT...no forget that weight...I forgot to put the wing back on :(

BitHed

...ok...725 RTR :D

...I splurged and did the FULL 12 pcs set of 5.8mm hard balls...I really like them...They feel smoother...

...adjusted front shox to TAMIYA Yellow #400 and rear to #300...I want to use all my TAMIYA oil up so i can shift to KYOSHO...I found out to that KYOSHO is pretty close to the TAMIYA weights with the the additional bonus of having HALF weights; ie 350, 450...Will be interesting to play with...

...picked up a nice new sink for the MAMBA esc....little wider little longer...little pricier buts it red :o I couldnt help myself...its a heat sink for a VFS-1 (ESC?) and its made by Alex Racing Design out of Japan...#Z018-R...www.alex.ne.jp...

...Took off the CAW rear and replaced it with a 3mm FIVESTAR carbon one...These guys do SUCH nice stuff...Its a shame they arent known outside of Japan...

...Lower rear chassis brace is gone as STiffy does all the work up top...

...ALL 2.6mm screws removed from chassis and EVERYTHING except 3R center hub is mounted with 3x6 hex head counter sunk screws...I cannot recommend this last mod enough...do it...your chassis will love you for it...

I ran all anodized aluminum screws last night at the races and didnt have a problem. They are A LOT lighter than SS, Ti, or stock steel screws.

...yup...I am fully expecting my ST to go UNDER 700 grams easy with an Eclipse, STiffy and even WITH the longer arms and dogbones etc...

...I had a set of the FIVESTAR knuckle washers for a while...I finally lost a lower one on the weekend so i compared them with the KYOSHO ones...Well I wont be using KYOSHO anymore...The FIVESTAR unts have a superior fit and eliminate the goofy 7mm screw...I can now use 6mm on BOTH top and bottom...They have slightly more nipple INSIDE the caster block and the fit and feel is just so much beter...

...I nudified the blue KYOSHO knuckles and they came up really well...In the close up you can see the washers / spacers i used...I use two; ONE 0.3 shim and ONE 0.2 shim...PERFECT :D

What did you use to attach the heatsink to the esc?

BitHed
11-16-2005, 03:40 AM
I used some really strong 3M double sided tape...holds up great...bit gooey after the heat it gets but it works no problems...i do NOT want to lose this sink because it works so great. it was expensive and ind its RED :D

Hey Bit, to lessen your chance of loosing your nice shiny red heatsink you should use a cable tie around it.. Just make sure it's not on too tight.. ie.. circuit board of Mamba bending..

to take it a step further, run the cable tie through the heat sink first, then heat it a little with a lighter(off the ESC) and twist it 90 degrees so that the tie can bend around the ESC better.. A pic is worth 1000 words, here it is.. It's not a pic of a Mamba but you get the idea :)

Just a suggestion.. I don't have a Mamba so I don't know how hot they get. Will this even work?

Good luck guys.

it should work, as long as bits super kung foo grip doesnt snap the mamba in half. i just mount my mamba next to my motor and my fan cools it, works great.

...1:10 rims and tires from HPI...Check the HPI SITE (http://www.hpiracing.com/index2.htm) and you will find what I used on the buggy...ST is a different story but getting there...

...1:10 hubs and axles are from CAW...The best there is...

i have a question...are the 1:10 touring, a good fit for the H8? when i say fit , i am asking if the plastic is to heavy or to hard...for the CVD...and if the diameter of the wheel is the same as the H8 whell

thank you

...1:10 rims are nice on the buggy...

...1:10 truck rims on the ST are making it work hard...best bet is sho-gooed ST rims...

...CAW makes the BEST axle for the H8 to run 1:10 rims...

...1:10 rims are bigger than stock H8 rims..

Bit when you say shoe-goo st rims what do you mean???
i have a ST and wanted to put some 1:10 wheels, road tyres on it..#

what would you recomend???

i have seen these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170072807470&rd=1&rd=1

they go on the stock rims i guess?

i got some MI buggy wheels and they are a lot smaller than the ST

but they seem nearly the same size as my 710 tc wheels.

so what 1:10 wheels are a good size for the ST

thanks
