Best NiMH cells I know are the GP1100. I don't know how much 8 single cells are in the US, but if you know how to use a soldering iron thats the cheapest way to get a decent pack for your halfeight. You'll just need some wire, battery-connectors, plugs and shrink wrap - but this stuff should allways be around at any good workbench ;)

Dude... United RC makes a lesser 8 cell pack for $15. Thier Xtreme packs are like $30. DEFINATELY WORTH EVERY PENNY!

I love these things! They are matched and zapped (important for pack life, or performance, or some such non-sence), but they are well made. I'm very happy with mine, and they fit like a glove.

I used to use green can cells.. and they were good (discontinued now).

Now I use GP1100's in my Mini-T.. Lipo in H8. The GP1100's are only $1.95 a cell.. thats about $16 plus $4 for wire, connector, shink wrap, bars, ect. Thats only $20 for an 8 cell pack. Only problem is that you have to assemble it or have someone do it for you. If you dont know how and cant find anyone local who can.. have the stuff shipped to me. I'll build it - no charge, you just pay for shipping. Email me if needed: drvonhoss@aol.com

Has anyone tried Intellect 1200 2/3A's?

There only $2.05 a cell and the numbers are better than GP1100's.

...The INTELLECTS certainly LOOK more attractive on paper but on dirt they run second best to G1100's...

Agreed, the intellects I have in the h8 seem slower than my gp1100's in the rc18t....just seem to not have the same punch, run times are longer but the instant pavement ripping torque power the gp's give just isn't there in the intellects. Great for bashing around, but I won't compromise the power of a gp1100 pack again ;)

They sure do.. this is good info to have. I was about to order a bunch of Intellect cells.. I think I will switch to GP1100s.

Sorry to ask this, but I'm a newbie...

Why only 1100 mAh?
There are cells with much higher capacity, I'm using GP 1800 mAh for my Digicam, for instance... Is it a performance/weight issue?

Also, what are "zapped" cells?

matt - check out http://www.maxamps.com

you can get GP1100 8-cell packs for $30...and IB1200 for $25...I ran these cells at the ECC (and weekly racing) and never had ANY power issues...and at the ECC, I was racing against guys running Lipo's - never felt underpowered compared to them :)

GP1100 are 2/3A cells that sustain 30Amp running. You can't get that in a 2300mAh rechargeable AA and apparently not from most other brands of Nimhs. read the boards about 1200mAh intellects and on and on.
You have to get into a really high mAh rated LiPo to get that kind of discharge rate. or you have to get a high rated LiPo and parallel it to come close to 30A.
I have thunderpower 730mAh 11.1V (3 cell) LiPo cells. each one will deliver 10C-12C continuous 10C is 10X the mAh rating. 10x.73=7.3 A. Get the picture. it is rated at 7-9 amps discharge at 11.1Volts.
To get 30A discharge rate you have to go to the some really high rated lipo like the thunderpower 2100mAh that has a 15C rating, that is 30A. or like I said, parallel them for high combined discharge ratings. Even if my 730mAh LiPos were rated for 20C, that would only be 14-16A discharge.

The question then is how long do you need to run on a charge? If you are racing and running in 5min qualifiers and maybe 7minute mains, you don't need a 2100mAh battery for the run time. Unless you want to charge it at home and run it all day. If you are bashing and don't run in grass or mud a lot, 2100mAh should last a very long time.

thanks guys, i plan to get a set of matched and zapped GP 1100s for those days when i need the most speed and power i can get, and a set of intellect 1200 for bashing.

How about the URC 2/3 1100mah cells, are they better then intellect ?
